Whiten Teeth While You Tan!

Two new products have emerged on the market as of May 2005: Twilight Teeth and Hollywood Whites. Both products claim that you can whiten your teeth during your tanning session!

The Ultra violet heat from the lamps in the bed of the tanning salons activates the Carbamide Peroxide gel, which in turn releases oxygen into the teeth that penetrates the enamel and lifts all types of stains from the teeth's enamel.

The whitening process is achieved through regular tanning sessions, and most people begin to see results within a few sessions. Both products are designed to be used for 5 sessions, ideally every other day. They can, however, be used every time you tan, as long as there is no irritation and you can stand the tanning. It is important to note that these products can be used up to once a day. The systems are also designed to be used between 8 and 30 minutes. If you are tanning in the 8 to 12 minute range, it would be assumed you are using a high-pressure bed. Otherwise, regular beds (low pressure) will be just as effective but may take up to 25 minutes.

According to Twilight Teeth, a small percentage of users experience increased sensitivity to cold or minor gum irritation. These symptoms will subside if the user stops the process for a few days. Nonetheless, the carbamide peroxide contained in these products are at a very low percentage, so there should not be any harmful side effects.

I have tried the twilight teeth a few weeks ago. The only problem I found was that the mouthpiece would not stay in place, it kept slipping out of my mouth. I guess I had to much saliva in my mouth. It was a little easier in a lay down bed but very hard in a stand-up booth that I just ended up taking it out before my session was up. I had just enough time to open the twilight teeth gel and put it on and put lotion on before the bed turned on. That's no big deal it just adds a 1 or 2 more minutes to your "prep time".

Sweet! Pearly white teeth while I darken my skin! Here we go contrast!

Great product! I just purchased a kit from Starlight Tanning Salon in West Los Angeles, and I used the new mouth piece that has a bite down thingy in the middle to hold it in place while you tan. I noticed my teeth 3 shades whiter after one session. Im a moderate coffee drinker and rarely smoke, so it REALLY seem to work very well!

I love Twilight Teeth, my teeth are alot whiter. If your teeth become sensitive use toothpaste for sensitive teeth and your teeth won't be sensitive at all.

I purchased a tube and mouthpiece from my tanning salon and could tell a difference after one time of using it. I smoke and drink tea....but the whitener definitely helps. I was on vacation for about a week and a half and noticed my teeth were starting to lose a bit of the whiteness - as soon as I started using the product again when I returned from vacation, i could tell it was helping to whiten again. Definitely worth investing in.

I LOVE Twilight Teeth! I use it 2 or 3 times a month (I get way over 12 uses per tube) and my teeth look great. When I went to the dentist in June they thought I had my teeth professionaly whitened by a dentist. They were shocked when I told them about Twilight Teeth. I tan at DarQest Tan in Lake Charles, LA. I would hightly recommend this product! Hope this helps!

Wonder if it has long term side effects, like sensitivity, and if u have 2 keep it up all the time.

Whitening period eats away at your enamel on your teeth... That's the only long term thing I know about...
9. - melissa - 05/14/2009
I can tell a diff in just 1 use but if you don't keep it up the whiteness wpnt last
10. - Ashley - 10/03/2009
I have been using twilight teeth for about two weeks now. I have noticed a slight diffrence. I am using a stand up bed that only goes for a max of 12 mins, so I am only getting 4-6mins of whitening time. I am happy with the results, and it is an easy product to use. The only con I have seen is I have a slight tanline around my mouth from the guard. Im going to switch to using this product every other session.

Try Solar Smile, The Newest In-Bed Whitening Product By White Smile! It gives you 14 applications and is much stronger w/ absolutely no sensitivity at all! It works much faster and better than twilight teeth and holly wood whites doesnt even compare!

Where can I get twilight teeth? I went to the website and it seems to be for salons only.

As a salon owner who has sold booth twilight teeth and hollywood whites. I personally found that the Holly wood whites was much better with not onlly myself but my clients too.
Not only was it cleaner to use, the gel and brush method in the hollywood whites. But the minty taste is a good idea when if your lips touch your teeth. I found it Also worked straight away an excellent product very much better then the twilight teeth, i found that too messy.

I used Twilight Teeth a few times and had no problem. However, last time I used it I went in a much higher level bed for a minute longer than I go in a normal bed. The next day I woke up and my lip was slightly swollen with three small blisters on my top lip. The day after that I woke and my top lip was extremely swollen and the blister was significantly worse. It has been 3 days now and the swelling nor the blister have gone down at all...I would not suggest using this product in a high pressure bed such as a level 3 or 4.

Tan White Works great! I purchased it from Maui Tanning in Encino and use in there high pressure bed for 8 minutes!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this product. i'm only writing this review b/c i literally had to read reviews before i purchased it! i purchased my first little bottle about a month ago for 30.00 at my tanning salon and after one session just loved it! so i've been using it once a week after that!
i've read the recent reveiws on this site, and all are good, but some say they see little difference. I've lived in a LOT of places and its important to know when yoru tanning at a 'good' salon or a 'cheap' salon. Some salons tell you they are 'changing their bulbs every x amount of hours" but they most likely arnt. so if you have bad bulbs your tan WILL take longer as will your teeth whitening process.
I ALWAYS recomend tanning at a 'all tanning' place that ONLY does tanning!

While its nice to be able to whiten teeth AND get a tan together, extreme caution should be used when trying new products. As one of the earlier posts said, high intensity light with high intensity gel could be very damaging combined.

I would not recommend this product. It takes too long to see real results. The tanning salon that I go to in San Diego sells SolarWhite from WhiteScience. It is more expensive, but the results are amazing! I haven't tried it in the sun yet, but I can't wait for summer!
