Intrinsic Stains

Dentists classify tooth stains into two categories; extrinsic and intrinsic. Intrinsic stains are on the inside of the tooth and show through the enamel as discoloration. Intrinsic stains are caused by dental disease, hereditary conditions and medications such as tetracycline.
