Retail whitening services that are neither regulated by state or Federal laws nor accredited by professional dental associations and are typically offered in a mall setting. Kiosk employees provide trays, whitening gels and light activation, while the consumer performs the actual procedure. Kiosk whitening promises up to a 4-shade improvement in less than 30 minutes. Some states, including Tennessee and Alabama, have banned the process.
