I was optimistic when I bought Luster 1 Hour White. I have pretty stained, yellow teeth and I wanted to see some quick improvement. The product was easy to use, but after 2 hours (the whole process takes longer than 1 hour--you have to do three steps between each 2-minute whitening session) I noticed a SMALL difference--my teeth were a little brighter. Also, my gums were stinging very badly afterwards. I think it's true about light-activated teeth whitening just dehydrating your teeth and making them appear whiter temporarily. Two days later, my teeth were back to their original shade. How disappointing!

this is the worst product ive ever bought. i never write reviews but i figured i HAD to with this. rinse paint and repeat every two minutes for an HOUR. for nothing but bleached out gums and maybe 2 shades IF THAT whiter. im going out and buying whitestrips tomorrow. this product is a joke. i even read reviews when i was in the store, on the edge of whether or not i should buy and it read suched mixed reviews like the ones on this board. take my word for it, this SUCKS! buy crest whitestrips instead

Wow, this kit totally works. I personally hate Crest White Strips because I don't ever constantly remember, or have time. But this was just about one hour of my day and my teeth are at least 4 or 5 shades whiter. It's amazing. I would recommend this to anyone. Now, to be a well rounded review, I'll honestly say the process was blah but the light told you when 2 minutes was up and then you just repeated, you don't even have to think. The whitening paste that you apply after mouthwash burns if it touches your lip and the bottom teeth are harder to do but if you apply water right after it hits your lip or gum on accident it's fine. To avoid the accident completely, put some Vaseline on your lips every time you reapply, it's simple and only takes a second and there is no pain if there is an accident. You will drool and the whitening process with be boring, but at least you don't have to sit for 30 min, not doing anything, white slippery strips slip and slide all over and don't give results. I'm sure I'll just buy the kit again in a couple months, but it's the same price as the Crest strips and/or you could just get the other Luster Weekend product as the refill.

Just an update to a previous post - having been highly unsatisfied with the product (see my post Nov 16, 09) I returned the product as per their instructions for a *not so* full refund. The cost of shipping is at the consumer's expense (was $8.00 from Canada) and within about 4 weeks I received a cheque for $49.99 USD. My receipt was for $59.99 CDN. The exchange rate around that time was 1.05 so at the very least I would have expected to see a cheque around $57.00. I have just made an inquiry with Dentations about the difference and after many emails of being misunderstood I was told that "Unfortunately we cannot cut checks for more than $49.99 USD so we refund what we are able to." Nice.

It does work. You just need to do a little each day. I drink a lot of coffee and occasionally smoke. I have had the Luster kit for about a week, and I use it once a day. My teeth have become noticably whiter for $40. Nothing happens in just one day, just be patient. It takes awhile to stain your teeth, so I am happy with the results over the past week. I even had a compliment the other night that I have nice teeth, and I haven't heard that in awhile.

Wow what a hassle i cant believe a product [Luster 1 hour whitening] would expect its buyers to go through so much HASSLE with nothing in return we all know beauty's pain but no beauty in return over here! I was drooling the whole time and i really didn't notice much of a difference! 40$ down the drain that could have been spent on half of something productive and the other half on a REAL TEETH WHITENER! =[

I purchesed this product hoping it would whiten my teeth. I unfortunately did not see any difference. The 2 minute sessions got very aggrivating after the first few. Would def. not reccommend, white strips or tray would do just as good if not better. Hope this helps.

It works. BUT, make sure to avoid contact with gums. It will irritate them to the point of bleeding and discoloration. It is also insane that you have to repeat 3 steps 10-20 times EVERY 2 minutes. I would not recommend this product. There are better options out there.

Isnt working that well for me. A bit dissapointed....i keep looking for a differences and there is only a slight one. Wondering if my luster is deffective. I do not reccomend this product.

AS MOST PEOPLE DID NOT WANT TO STOP BUT I WAS WONDERING HOW THAT WORK SO THE GUY SHOW ME THE STRIP OF THE SHADES WHEN HE COMPARED WITH MY TEETH HE WAS AMAZED .... HE SAID YOU'VE DONE THIS... I WAS OH WELL NOT EXACTLY BUT SOMETHING DEFERENT ( A IN HOME TREATMENT ) HE ASKED ME THE NAME AT THAT MOMENT I FORGOT IT THEN HE ASKED ME WHERE I GOT IT AND I SAID ONLINE.
AT THE END HE TRYED TO SELL TOOTHPASTE AND OTHER THINGS I SAID NOT THANK I HAVE TO GO .


BOTTOM LINE... THE LUSTER WORKED VERY WELL FOR ME.

I am currently on the 6th application of the steps 1-3 of the product with the light. I am really impressed. Before I bought this products I thought my teeth were horribly yellow, but when I saw the chart I realized they were really only about a 4.
By the 4th application they were noticeably a lot better.
I will not do the full 10-20 applications as I don't see the need. Maybe I will do more tomorrow

As a former Registered Dental Assistant, I thought I'd give this over-the-counter product a try. I was truly disappointed in the results. It didn't even come close to replicating a professional treatment.

Unbelievably disappointed with this product!! I had to stop using it after about 16 treatments as it was really starting to burn my gums. I was very careful not to put any on my gums but they do recommend a liberal application to the teeth so getting it on the gums seems inevitable. Even after 16 treatment I saw absolutely no change. After 24 hrs, my gums are still bleeding when I brush and are super sensitive.
Needless to say, this product will be returned - and hopefully my gums will stop bleeding soon! Too bad I didn't at least get whiter teeth :(

It works, but it is a pain to use. Very frustrating. I will stick to my Rembrant 2 hour whitening.

I used the Luster Tooth Whitening System (not the kind with the light) just the gel for 7 days, and it worked great, I smoked for over 10 years, and I drink coffee a lot, and my teeth look several shades lighter, I have gotten alot of compliments on how bright my smile is. Definitely worth the $19.99.
I highly recommend this product to anyone.

This item looks a lot more fun than it really is. Having you to repeat directions 1 - 3 at least 10 times is ridiculous. I saw absolutely no whitening of my teeth except two very small white dots on my two front teeth. My gums on the bottom are white and they hurt, it has been almost 24 hours since the procedure.

I am returning this product. I am not satisfied. It is a waste of TIME and MONEY. "One hour of HASSLE. One hour of getting up rinsing, pasting, then lighting, laying down. Two minutes later you repeat, then repeat, then repeat, etc.

Below if a breakdown of my experience:

1. The light seems to be more a marketing gimmick that a critical part of the whitening process. If it actually does anything, you should document exactly “what it does” in the enclosed instructions and on your website.

2. The enclosed instructions recommend avoiding things like coffee and tea for 24 hours after using the product. However, there is no explanation as to why 24 hours. I mean shouldn’t you always avoid coffee and tea if you want your teeth to remain white?

3. When looking at my teeth after 20 treatments, I found myself questioning if my teeth were really any whiter. Part of me wanted to believe my teeth were whiter, but my brain was telling me they were the same color.

4. The enclosed color chart is too dark. Even my teeth, which are in need of whitening, matched the lightest color on the chart.

That pretty much sums it up. Cheers.

I used this and that rembrandt 2 hour white, in 2 days I am 11 shades whiter. (went from a 14 to a 3, according to Lusters Scale) I can't believe it actually worked, teeth/gums are a little sore....most likely caused I used both of these things but hey 11 shades in 2 days for less then $60 I can't complain!

I guess if ya wan2 brighten up your smile in 2 days use both of these systems and you'll be shocked by how much whiter your teeth are..... I didnt even use the entire pack of either product either almost all of the rembrandt and maybe 1/2 of the luster blue light thing..... The only downside of the blue light thing make sure you have a bib on you drool all over yourself haha

I thought the system worked quite well. I'm a smoker so I wanted to remove some stains on my teeth. Asides from the stains my teeth are quite light in color (it was somewhere between a 5 or 6) and now they are a (2 or 3). The stains have faded quite a bit but are not completely gone. I did not find the process too frustrating and I didn't think the drooling was a big issue. I've previously used trays thinking I could watch TV while wearing them but the taste and the drooling forced me to run back and forth from the TV to the sink (not to mention the sensitivity). At least this product was honest about keeping you near a sink.

I have tried just about EVERYTHING there is to whiten teeth. Crest white strips, gels, and all that stuff. One day I decided to do some online research on tooth whitening products. I then went to buy the first product I found which was Luster. Instead of buying the one with the light, I bought the Weekend whitening System which is basically just the same as the 1-hour refill. I used it for 3 days and followed the EXACT instructions which is basically use mouthwash, gel, repeat. After 3 days my teeth were noticably white. I took a before and after picture and my teeth WERE infact 6 shades brighter. I am not a smoker, or coffee/tea drinker so it wasn't a problem keeping my teeth white. I now buy this system once a month as it's cheap and totally worth it!

NOTE: My friend is a smoker and I recommended this product to her, she didn't but the light just like me but her results were 3 shades lighter rather than 6 but it still made a diffrence so if your a smoker or coffee drinker this product may not give you a 6 shade diffrence but it will give you at least 2 shades diffrence.

I thought that this whitening product did an ok job of whitening my teeth. I can't expect a $40 product to do a professional job. Content.

I truly believe that this products works best for people who have whitened their teeth before.....meaning, I think it removes surface stains best. I had my teeth professionally whitened about 6 years ago and the very first time I used Luster, just ONE application, all those 6 years of stain just dissolved. However, for a first time whitener.....good luck with that. Nothing beats a professional whitening. You may get a few shades whiter, but these products are best for quick refreshers.
