OVER-THE-COUNTER
Tray Whitening System
10%-22% Carbamide Peroxide
Average Price: $30
Dr. Collins All White Bleaching System image

The Dr. Collins Teeth Whitening System is the flagship product of the Dr. Collins product lineup. It is an over-the-counter, tray-based whitening kit, that is available in 10%, 16%, and 22% Carbamide Peroxide. They also have gels which use a Hydrogen Peroxide formula. The whitening kit was created by Dr. Colin Suzman, a practicing dentist in Orange Country, CA. Like many dentists, he recommended oral care products that were easily accessible from other companies, but wanted something better for his patients.

The Dr. Collins line has been available for about 4 years and is currently being sold through Drugstore.com, Dentist.net, and Swanson Health. They are now working toward retail distribution of their line by the end of 2009.

Bleaching System Contents

Each kit includes 4 thermoform Boil-n-Bite Trays (2 extra trays in case of error when forming your trays), 4 bleaching gel syringes, 1 desensitizing gel syringe, and a retainer box to hold your trays. The Bleaching Gels are manufactured and packaged in the US (important). In addition, the bleaching gel is water-based which helps to prevent some of the sensitivity normally associated with whitening.

Dr. Collins All White Bleaching System Contents

How it Works

The Dr. Collins Bleaching System works like any other tray-based whitening system. Using boil-and-bite bleaching trays, a teardrop amount of teeth whitening gel is applied to the inner front surface of the tray. Depending on whether or not you have whitened before and the concentration of the bleach, the wearing time of the tray can be anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours a day for up to a week.

Possible Discomfort, Sensitivity, and Pain

Your teeth or gums may become sensitive with the Dr. Collins All White Bleaching System. This is common while using any products containing peroxide based gels and it is reversible. In case of increased sensitivity with this product you can reduce usage time and/or use the Dr. Collins desensitizing gel. This system is one of the few systems out there which includes a desensitizing gel. We were quite pleased to see this! The desensitizing gel uses Potassium Nitrate which actually works its way into the center of your tooth (the pulp) and has a numbing action that prevents you from feeling serious fluid loss.

Hydrogen Peroxide Version

Dr. Collins also includes a Hydrogen Peroxide version (instead of Carbamide Peroxide). Some people do not have teeth sensitivity and prefer the shorter wear time of Hydrogen Peroxide. Also, some users reported that the Hydrogen Peroxide version was more effective for removing stubborn surface stains.

Whitening Factor

The Dr. Collins Teeth Whitening System works well and comes at a very reasonable price for all that is included. Results will be seen in just a few days!

One thing that struck us as odd was the lack of contact and customer support information with the kit. We hope they will change this in the imminent future. If you experience any issues with your kit, we advise contacting the retail outlet the product was purchased from.

Most whitening systems cost more and include less. It seems the team at Dr. Collins has saved on marketing (illustrated by the outdated packaging design), in exchange for passing value on to the consumer. That’s fine in our book!

I used this product ...led to brown teeth and a weakening of my teeth that may have further led to a chipped tooth. Worst part is that the company doesn't seem to care: filed with fda.

I had my teeth bleached about 10 years ago at my dentist and it was she, more recently, who recommended this product. For me it has been fine. Brought the whiteness back to my teeth (I used my old trays from the dentist so no pain with the hot moulds!) Results were very fast. I had good customer service in the UK and exceptionally fast delivery. No complaints at all. Everyone is different so I guess just try them and see what happens, after all it's not expensive is it?

I bought the 22% Carbamide kit from Dentstore, after reading poor reviews about Dentstore's i was sceptical but they were the only company to sell it, so I went with them and two days later it arrived in one piece and didn't cost too much.

I had trouble with the trays at first, after a couple tries I got a decent fit, just don't leave the trays in the water for longer than 10 seconds. After about 4 days of using this product I saw improvements in my teeth. Currently I've gone through about 1/3 of the gel and my teeth look a lot whiter.

You really just have to trial and error with this product, with the trays and how much gel to use. But overall, I am completely happy with it, I was a little concerned about sensitivity but I haven't had to use the gel once! As i said I've still got 2/3 of the product to use to get the level of whiteness I'm hoping for. I'd definitely recommend this one.

Bought this kit from a company called dentstore and package sent in awful condition without a box, after 3 days of use i could barely see any some results. i guess it will work if you white teeth to start with and you are only after a small polish

i thought that i was a great idea at first until i applied the gel to my teeth. i noticed an instant burning feeling on my gums. i thought that maybe it burned at first then went away but after only 2 minutes i took it off to noticed that my gums blistered up.the next day i went to brush my teeth i torn a layer off my gums from where it was still blistered. i dont know why this product did this to my gums but i would not recomend it to anyone.

I have used the system and must say that the trays are very hard to form. I almost burned my gums. You have to boil the water first and then keep the tray in for a few minutes. You have to apply the hot tray to your teeth and on top of the gums when it is still very hot. If you wait little longer to cool the trays down, then it will not mold around your teeth. I don't think it is very safe.

Forgive the length of this review but I hope it helps, since it worked very well for me,
Theses reviews helped me a bunch in my choice of teeth whitening so I hope I give it back a little.

Iím very skeptical about any products like those, two years ago I had started to use Crest Whitestrip over at the local pharmacy then. I didnít complete the treatment, shame on me, but although it did work to a certain extent, I was not too impressed anyway, reinforcing my skepticism. Now this year was the year I planned to have my teeth cleaned, cavities repaired, the complete package, of course I inquired about whitening, it had been 19 years with no visits to the dentist! It was about time. So I shopped around for a dentist, inquiring at the same time for whitening procedures. The 350$-450$ price tag was way too much I thought, so as I gained knowledge of the whitening process with each inquiry, I came to find reviews showing seemingly the same type of treatments offered at a much lower price, I did a lot of research before choosing Dr Collins brand.

My teeth were the yellow-brownish type A-3-A-4, measured by the dentist just before I started the whitening treatment; not the grey type, which as you know seems not to whiten well. I drink considerable amounts of coffee, I donít smoke.

I received my whitening kit about the time I started my repairs at the dentist that I finally chosen. She was to repair the 4 small cavities on my upper front teeth in about a month from the beginning of my visits, I had quite a few small cavities to be repaired in the back, so I did the whitening treatment every day from the beginning of my visits to the dentist for 2 weeks, BUT only the upper teeth, in order to compare with the lower one which I am doing now 2 months after the very beginning.

Of course I explained the treatment I did to my dentist, and it was timely as I finished the whitening 2 weeks before she made the repairs to the front teeth, as you know it is better to wait a couple week after the whitening completion to have any cavities repaired, for the shade of the teeth to stabilize. My dentist wanted me to bring her the kit I bought, she took note of it, she seemed favorable for it.

When a month later she was ready to do the front cavities, she measured the whitening and now it was a uniform shade of A-1, she was impressed herself, she implied that the kit I used is he same that kind of effectiveness that they give, of course any dentist will not be so enthusiastic in losing about 400$, but she was very kind and gave advice on the fact that teeth are dry for a little while after the treatment and is not recommendable to drink red wine especially, which can tint teeth then, but yet it is temporary. The teeth protectiveness gets back to normal after a week or two. BTW my teeth keep A-1 for now after a month from completion

I used Dr Collins 22% Carbamide peroxide kit, and an extra 3 syringes of 9% peroxide.
The consistency of the gel is perfect, it sticks and stays well in the trays and on the teeth, the taste is great. I had no sensitivity to my teeth but I did have some of my gum burning a bit, only because I put too much product, you really only need to put tiny drops on the front bottom of your tray, on each molded teeth, then pressing it unto your teeth will spread the gel, I kept it an hour. If you burn your gum they should quickly heal in a day or two, it does not affect the treatment to stop a day or two. My dentist recommended me to spread some vitamin E gel, I did it, I bought those gel pills and I guess it helped. I continued with the right amount of whitening gel and I had no problems at all.

They include 4 trays, Thank God, beacsue I scrapped 2, they must know, but please follow the direction, pour them in water that just boiled, for max 10 secs and immediately press it firmly with your fingers everywhere on your teeth. I did cut parts of the plastic in the back and side, to make it more comfortable, but go slowly if trimming it, be sure not to cut too much, I scrapped one like this, another one by letting it too long in hot water.

In addition to this kit, I also bought Daywhite ACP 38% carbamide peroxide, but I only used it for a couple days, the gel isnít sticking well, it tends to dissolve fast and it tastes somewhat like bitter clove, which can made me cough a bit if some is swallowed, a little like acid reflux, it may work very well I guess but I didnít try it long enough, the above was enough for me to stick with Dr Collins brand

In conclusion, I am very, very happy (my wallet too!) about the results, and I highly recommend it to anyone having yellow type teeth. I am ordering soon 2 other kits, one for my nephew and one for my brother-in-law, I will keep you posted later about their results.

Thank you for reading me, hope it helps and good luck with your smile!

bought the kit from drugstore.com. i chose the 10% kit as although dont have sensitive teeth but didnt want the strong version since I read teeth sensitivity is a common side effect. I am very happy with the results i got and the sensitivity was mild. The difficulty is actually molding the mouth trays which hold the bleach. the tray cant be too soft otherwise its hard to not to mention to hot to position it in your mouth and is too floppy and messed up with the first tray. Whats great about this system is they give you 4 trays in case you make a mistake. I also compared this to other kits which not only give you just 2 trays but only 2 syringes of whitening goop and these other kits were more costly. This kit came with 4 syringes and i only used 2 to whiten. Overall, i am very happy with the results and would recommend this with hesitation. My dentist wanted $200 for a home system so it was a great savings. GREAT PRODUCT. I see Dr Collins sells other products and i will definitely being trying them too.

Hi everyone,

I bought this product from a company called Dent Store in the UK. They sent me the wrong product to start with. I ordered the whole bleaching system and they sent me just the syringes. I overlooked this and ordered some moulds from them. I love the product BUT I ordered again and they have now sent me Whitestrips by Crest which I do NOT want. Also I cannot find a phone number for them to contact - only an email address which doesn't seem to work.

Love this product, I have pretty sensitive so I purchased the 10% and I felt next to none discomfort. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the whitest and 1 being yellow) my teeth were at about a 4 when I started. I used it every other day for a week and after the 3rd day my teeth were easily at a 9, and I only used 1 syringe. I kept the other syringes in the fridge to help pro long the life of the whitening gel and i touch up about once a month. I had know idea how much of a difference having white teeth makes you feel and look, and its so simple. Just thought I would share my opinion with everyone. Hope it helps.

I bought the Dr. Collins all white bleaching system online. I absolutely love the product. It's by far the best value of any bleaching system on the market. I recently quit smoking and had some fairly bad staining from years of the horrible habit. After just a few uses of the Dr. Collins gel I noticed the tobacco stains fading away. I was sooooo happy to find this great valued product and it works just as advertised. I've already highly recommended this product to a number of people and will continue to do so!

Dr. Collins All White Bleaching System gets my teeth whiter than any other product I've used. The consistency is super sticky so the gel adheres to my teeth better than others. And I have never experienced any sensitivity, which is awesome! You would think that a whitening gel this safe and effective would cost a fortune, but Dr. Collins is actually very affordable. I ordered mine from drugstore.com. I highly recommend this product!
