After reading all of the reviews I was dreading my procedure yesterday but am relieved to say it was fine. My teeth are sensitive but I felt only minimal discomfort right at the end of the procedure, in fact it was quite relaxing! A few tips:
-only use a top quality dentist. This will probably mean paying a little more
-brush with sensitive fluoride toothpaste and a soft bristle brush for a week in advance
-dose up with ibuprofen and paracetamol beforehand
-book an appointment in the late afternoon so you can sleep through any discomfort
-continue to take recommended painkiller dose until bedtime
By the time you wake up the next day you should be pretty much back to normal with a beautiful gleaming smile to be proud of!

Hubby and I were Zoomed on same day. We got a great price of $99 thru Groupon. Dentist was very careful and thorough to mention the possible sensitivity during the procedure. I was pretty nervous as my teeth are sensitive already. They did a great job protecting teeth with recessed gums. I felt no discomfort during the 3-15min. sessions. Got a few zingers in 3 teeth after but they give a sensitivity gel to put on at home if needed. My major disappointment is that my teeth improved only 5 shades whiter. Nobody noticed the difference when I smiled. If I had paid the full price of $600 for both of us I would have really been angry. Not worth the money. Now I am still looking for another whitening product. My opinion....tolerable procedure, not worth the money, minimal whitening.

I had the Zoom Whitening done twice.
The first time was back in 2009 and then 2011.
The first time around I had a lot of "zinger" pain and was in discomfort until the next morning. -I Recommend you do the Zoom Whitening later in the day, from my experience the pain goes away by the next morning.
The second time around (2011) I just did it for a little bit of maintenance and I only experienced the "zinger" pain minimally.
I started using Sensodyne tooth paste after the first Zoom Whitening so I think that helped a lot.
But the Nite White tray whitening is fantastic to maintain the white.
I also try to stay away from coffee, wine, tomatos, ect.
I am very pleased! Pain is beauty, and beauty is pain!

Went to the dentist this morning at 8 am this morning, it's now 7:54 pm and I'm STILL in so much pain. I wish I had read the reviews before I went. My teeth are pretty white except for one of my front teeth which was gradually getting yellower, I think I hit it really hard when I was young. Anyways, I only made it through three phases. The first two phases were fine, it was after the third phase that I could bear no more. My dentist told me any sensitivity would be gone by the afternoon, or tonight, and if not definitely by the time I wake up tomorrow. The pain is excruciating, it feels like the nerves in my teeth are delivering electric shocks. I would not wish this pain on even my worst enemy. I spent the afternoon screaming and crying on my couch in pain. I have barely even eaten today because the one time I did, it caused my sensitivity to go into a frenzy. I took an advil earlier, I'm going to pop two more now, get into bed and pray I have no pain in the morning. I truly think this treatment depends on your sensitivity, but I wouldn't recommend it to anymore. Pain is not worth it.

I had the ZOOM treatment today! It took about 2 hours. I purchased it through a groupon so I got a great deal. The hygienist sat with me the entire time and my teeth are much whiter! I got one or two zingers during the treatment. This evening my teeth have been very sensitive. I've had zingers on and off and have been taking some medicine to control the discomfort. It's no big deal!!! Anyone who has a whitening procedure and doesn't expect some discomfort is not being realistic. I'm hoping the zingers will be gone by tomorrow. :). Pleased with the results and will recommend to all my friends :)

I was very close to cancelling my appointment after having read all these bad reviews. I'm super glad I didn't! Of course, I'm sure everyone feels a little discomfort here and there, beauty does have its price, people! I underwent 4 sessions since my teeth were very yellow due to neglect and lots of coffee drinking. I didn't expect them to be this white! They look amazing..Everyone in my family complimented on my smile. I didn't feel the zingers until the last 4 minutes of the session and experience about 30 more after leaving my dentist's office. After 2 800mg Ibuprofens and a good night's sleep, I have not experienced anymore zingers. I only brushed my teeth very lightly yesterday since I felt zingers when water touched my gums. They are still a little sensitive still but nothing unbearable. If you are planning on doing this, I strongly recommend it. All the bad reviews are seriously exaggerated.

My complaint is not in the whitening @ the Dentist office. Although I did think my teeth would be whiter, I was still happy.
But, no one mentioned my complaint w/Zoom system.
It's the COST of the refill tubes after, I wish I knew where I could get the refill tubes cheaper than $55.00 for 3 itty bitty tubes. I get them @ my dentist office.
Are there generic brands that you buy cheaper than that anywhere than the Zoom system.
And, I like 2 cups of coffee/day & 1 glass of red wine/night, & now I have to very careful not to stain my teeth w/them.

I just had my teeth whitened and I absolutely love the results!

Although, I almost did not book an appointment after reading all the reviews :-) It was not painful whatsoever, I did not suffer from any zingers and the dentist said that I reached the whitest of shades after only 2X 15 minutes; to be fair, I already had fairly white teeth. The only discomfort was the mouth protector, but totally worth it as it protects against lips burning.

I talked with my dentist beforehand and told her that I was apprehensive, that I read all these reviews, which were not all glorious. She guided me through the procedure and I suggest you do the same with your dentist.

So all in all, beautiful results, painless and quick!

I just had Zoom done today and LOVE the results. My teeth were white before but now they are brilliant white. I read these reviews last night and was freaked out because of all the reviews about severe pain. I experienced zingers at the end of the 3rd pass and they definitely were not plesant, however not horrific as many of the reviews expressed.

I have healthy teeth with no cavities and think that a lot of the people who review may not have the healthiest teeth so the procedure is more complicated and painful.

Don't let these reviews scare you if you are going in for the procedure it is WORTH a little discomfort. Be sure to get the after care it has helped me a lot already with sensitivity and occasional zingers.

I think the worst part for me will be 48 hours without coffee haha

Ps Picture was taken today after Zoom

Would never recommend this to anyone unless you have very stained and very TOuGH teeth!! Most painful procedure I've ever had done (& I've had 2 root canals!) pain was NOT in the back of my mouth where potential cavities could be. Pain was in the gums in front, my lips and the teeth themselves. I had the procedure this morning and have:

1.) Ungodly pain all day (like you should take Vicodin or other major pain killer pain--I haven't, since I am nursing, but oh God if I could!)

2.). White spots and lines left on my teeth. I had pretty white teeth before the procedure with some minor yellowing around the base, but overall pretty bright--now they are discolored and uneven!! Dr said this should clear up..in a few MONTHS! What?! My good-looking teeth that I just wanted to make look a little more polished are now ugly, stained teeth for the next few months??! Seriously, what is the point? I paid for non-uniformity?

3.). Tons of tooth sensitivity. I have seen the word "zinger" used on some of the reviews--great description of it bc it does feel like an electric shock is running through your tooth structure everytime you open your mouth, eat or drink.

Bottom line? DoNT DO IT unless you ABSOLUTELY need to...and before then, look into laser. I hear that is super effective. For Zoom's price, you'd expect it to be more effective and less painful. I could have achieved the same results with strips & not had to go through the cost and expense.

I got the Zoom! tooth whitening procedure done yesterday... and the pain was worse than my jaw surgery pain. It was worse after the procedure, but during was awful too. I sat through the entire thing, 4 sessions and all, and I was MISERABLE to say the least. The pain afterwards, and I'm not exaggerating, felt like someone ripped my teeth out, sawed the nerves off, and dug them out with a spoon. I was crying and SCREAMING afterwards. I talked to the doctor beforehand about my sensitivity and he understood completely. He prescribed me Lortab and another kind of medicine to treat nausea. I took 2 of them as soon as they were filled, which took about 45 minutes (filled with extreme pain), and the nausea medicine. It got me pretty doped up and caused the pain to become bearable. I took one more a few hours afterward and slept like a baby. I woke up feeling great with no sensitivity at all. I was able to eat a huge bowl of Cheerios and a banana, because I didn't eat yesterday from the pain. I recommend that you talk to your dentist beforehand about the pain, and they will do all they can to help. My teeth are 2 shades whiter, and I had white teeth already. It was worth it, but the pain makes it an extreme risk. I don't recommend it to someone who already has white or semi-white teeth. I didn't choose to have this procedure done- my mom made me. I didn't care about it either way but I sure did afterwards. If you do it, just talk to your doctor beforehand.

The most painful experience in my whole entire life, unbelievable, I managed to last the full session but just about, 10 hours on and still in pain, put 3 different kinds of sensitive toothpaste on, put them in my home guards and wore them, took NSAID's pain a bit less than at first but it really does hurt and it really is an excruciating pain. Stick with the home trays, the pain of the zoom is just not worth it!

I had the Zoom whitening treatment done this past Thursday, July 5th and love the results! My dentist offered 4 - 15 minute sessions but because of sensitivity I was only able to do 3. They told me that the at-home whitening trays/gel that they will give me will definitely lighten up my teeth even more, which is nice to know. My teeth were extremely yellow as I have never done any kind of whitening and recently had my braces taken off after 27 months of wearing them. There is a definite difference from before and after with the color of my teeth.

The process itself wasn't as bad as I was expecting from all the reviews I had read. I did use Sensodyne toothpaste and a fluoride mouthwash for approximately a month before having the procedure done. The dentist had advised to do this and I definitely think it helped/decreased the zingers I experienced. I would recommend using both as long as you can before getting the procedure done, because over time Sensodyne builds up on your teeth to decrease sensitivity.

The hygenist blocked off my gums with a special gel, and then also blocked my lips so they did not get burnt during the procedure. She did an excellent job with this as I did not feel any discomfort on my gums, and would come back in between sessions to check on me and reapply the gel. Once the procedure started, I did not experience any sensitivity in the first 15 minute session - the light just felt a little warm on my teeth. By about 5 minutes into the second session I experienced my first zinger (sharp intense pain deep in my back tooth) but it only lasted about 15 seconds. I did experience about 5 more of these throughout the rest of the second session and the third as well. For me it was mostly on my bottom back teeth, but towards the end I did feel one near my front top teeth as well. The zingers aren't fun, but definitely not painful enough to say that the procedure wasn't worth it.

After I was finished with the three sessions the hygenist took the molds of my teeth to make my at-home whitening trays. After I left the office I did experience zingers here and there for about the next 5 hours. They weren't continuous but would come in spurts. I did take some ibuprofen and by the time I woke up the next morning I didn't have any more zingers and haven't felt any since (procedure was done 4 days ago).

The one downside I have found is that you have to be very careful what you eat for the next several days after the procedure. The dentist told me your teeth are most suseptible to staining about 2-3 days afterwards since the whitening procedure pulls all the moisture out of your teeth. It is a minor inconvenience, but I found it a little tricky to find foods to eat that would not stain in those first couple of days. They also tell you not to drink coffee, pop or red wine; luckily I do not drink any of the three so that was not a problem for me.

Even though there was a little discomfort, I felt the Zoom whitening was well worth the money and I am happy with the result. I also went to a dentist that made me feel comfortable and answered all of my questions. If you are considering Zoom, definitely do your research ahead of time and find a dentist you trust.

WARNING !! Stupidly I did the Zoom whitening treatment 4 years ago - excruciating nerve pain - was in tears ... a day later developed blood blisters at the top of the gums in which they told me perhaps some had seeped into my gums causing a slight infection. So four years on I have 2 abscesses develop in my front teeth - the very area effected. My dental specialist says he cannot explain how I developed them ?? Now I know it was the Zoom ... so, so sure!!

It is most important that you dental provider advise
Fluoride treatments prior to tx and post treatment. Flouride helps prevent sensitivity and It replenishes minerals to the dehydrated tooth after whitening. In most cases people are fine after but in some cases zinging can occur and last intill next day. If you have fluoride 2 weeks before zoom in 90 percent of cases report no sensitivity in my office. It's up to your dental professional to do things accordingly to zoom protocol.

I had the procedure from 2:00 - 4:00 pm. I had four 15 minute treatments. I experienced no heat or pain during the procedure. I was well prepared and educated prior to the procedure. I have experienced only two zingers...one about 10 minutes afterwards and another driving home. The results are fine. And I am 70 years old. I think there must be something to the dentist's skill after reading the other reviews. My dentist and his staff were relaxed and it made me confident. I think the preparation and skill may have made the difference? I am very pleased.

I had this treatment yesterday and only got as far as the 2nd round. The pain was awful in my lower teeth and I had to stop. The zingers were so bad, my legs shot up and hit the dentist's equipment! If you go ahead with this and your teeth are relatively white anyway, it is NOT worth the discomfort. The pain was excruciating and lasted all day.

WILL NEVER DO THIS AGAIN EVER!!!!

I got my zoom whitening done today at around 11:40am. I did three15 mins sessions. The first session was ok. The second session I started feeling the "zingers". I was dreading the third session but surprisingly it wasn't too bad. After I left I started feeling the zingers. They would come in short bursts and a few of them stopped me in my tracks. It was the most painful thing I've ever felt. I had to stop and wait until it went away. I took ibuprofen (800mlg) and it still didn't help. 9 hours later no relief yet. The short bursts of pain has now became a constant throbbing pain on both my upper and lower teeths.
I'm planning to take some vicodin and put sensodyne on my teeth..hopefully that will bring me some relief. My teeth are whiter but not drastically whiter. I could've have gotten the same results with my crest whiteing. I do not recommend. my teeth weren't sensitive to begin with. Usually when one has sensitivity its only on 1 or 2 teeths and its only for a few secs and it goes away. Imagine that happening all through your mouth for 9 hours straight without it going away. Not fun

I usually do not write reviews but made an exception in this case since I visited this site prior to making my decision to have the whitening done. Let me say first and foremost it's NOT that bad!!! So many people on here talk about how painful their experiences were that I almost did not go through with the procedure. I expected it to be crazy and it wasn't. Although, I do not doubt that people may have experienced some pain with this, I doubt that is the norm. I am SUPER sensitive to almost everything and my procedure went fine. The machine was on High (it has three settings) during all 3 passes. I did experience a slight throbbing sensation during my second pass but it quickly subsided. I had the procedure done about 9 am this morning, it is now almost 2:00 pm and my teeth feel fine. I experienced a few "zingers" here and there but nothing extremely painful. And definetly, nothing that requires medication. To be honest, I think my teeth were more sensitive when I did the at-home whitening then using Zoom. Also my hygenist was good. She answered all of my questions and did a great job protecting my lips and gums and I never felt any discomfort on these areas. Initially, when I left I didnt think my results were that great. My teeth were already fairly white but I was expecting much whiter results. The hygenist told me that my teeth were whitened by about four shades and my resulting tooth color is on the "bleaching" color chart (meaning they are lighter than normal colored teeth) instead of the normal teeth color chart.

Overall, I think its worth it. My only complaint is that I purchased this on groupon and they neglected to mention that the groupon only included the Zoom in-chair procedure when apparently the full Zoom procedure includes a take-home whitening tray. The receptionist told me that the take-home trays are supposedly optional but they recommend it to fully whiten your results. I thought that was a bit deceptive because when you pay full price for Zoom whitening the whitening trays (that distinctly read "Zoom whitening trays") are included as part of the Zoom Whitening procedure because during the procedure your teeth whiten unevenly and the take-home trays are use to even out the results. Uhhhh yeah....So apparently the trays are not optional but necessary and thus should have been a part of the groupon (or at the least this information needs to be included in the fineprint!!!!). Needless to say I ended up paying an additional $50.00 for the take-home whitening also. I am eager to see just how white my teeth turn out.

i had Zoom white done yesterday at 5pm, was fine during the 3 15 miin sessions, as soon as i left the office, zingers started, and continued for hours, teeth super sensitive and painful!!!! woke up today feel much better but still sensitive, I WOULD NOT recommend this procedure if your teeth are fairly white to start. IT is is no way worth the pain, white strips work just as well, and i also have white horizontal lines on some teeth npow that they say will fade? I hope!!!!! dont do this unless u feel the need torture yourself :(

I didnt know AT ALL about the "pain" part of the process of whitening but I always wanted to do it, so today i had an appointment with my dentist(which before I asked her if it hurts at any time, she said now) WORST THING I'VE EVER DONE! and she lied to me soo bad! When the process started it went fine... then in the second session i couldnt handle it anymore, i wasnt expecting any pain since thats what i've been told, but then the "zinger" pains came... first in the bottom teeth and they were horrible! Its the worst pain ever. Now it's been 2 hours after I made this horrible thing and after reading these comments im really scared or tonight (hopefully the pain will go away), now the pain is less but they are still present... I really dont recommend this thing cuz Awful and horrible arent words enough to explain the pain :/

Had the zoom whitening done today. I loved it, I felt two zingers at the end of my 4th 15min light treatment but other then that it was great. I almost fell asleep during the procedure. Very comfortable and the dentist did an amazing job in keeping my gums safe from any product. I recommend it. I didn't even have to take any medication as others have wrote about.

The procedure is like many others have said. I experienced zingers for the first few hours, popped an ibuprofen and felt ok...it has been 4 hours and I'm free of pain. The zingers are horrible to be fair. But the results for me were fab! I had quite discoloured teeth due to my love of coffee and red wine and numerous cigarettes and over the years the colour of my yellowing, greyish teeth had been commented on..thankfully by just close family! The results are way better than I'd imagined! Not artificial...I really didnt want that. But a natural fresh white. Sad that so many others have had such painful experiences. I'm so pleased with the results and would highly recommend. I would agree with another commenter to ensure you completely trust your dentist because I bet if this goes wrong it would be a nightmare.

Had the Zoom procedure done the other day, my teeth are whiter by a few shades, but I did have white teeth to begin with. The reason I did this procedure is because my friends mother is a dentist so she charged me less than any other dentist. During the procedure there was no real pain, I was just uncomfortable because the machine is shoved in your mouth. But after the procedure oh man, my teeth were extremely sensitive. I couldn't even breathe out of my mouth, I was awake at night. But if you have a tolerance for pain, which I don't really have, get to procedure done. The pain only last for a day, and it's practically gone the next morning.

I had the Zoom Whitening done yesterday. During the last part I started to have some sensitivity so the office staff gave me some ibuprofen after cleaning my mouth up. My teeth were pretty white to begin with but I am a coffee and tea drinker so not as white as I would like for them to be. My teeth are now spotted and have some really white places and some places that look like they stayed the same. The dentist checked my teeth before starting and did not say anything about the possibilities of having spots or I NEVER would have had this done!!! The staff tried to tell me that my teeth would go back to normal and you would not be able to see the spots but they really did not know how long it would take. So leaving the office upset and really wishing I had never done this the shooting pains throughout my teeth start. I stopped at the store and bought more ibuprofen to take but nothing was helping by 8:30pm I was in so much pain. Every tooth that had been whitened hurt so bad I wanted to go tot he emergency room. I called the dentist back this morning at 8am to talk with her about the situation. She said that she would call in some pain medication for me and after we got the pain under control we would worry about the spots. If anyone has had the white spots occur on their teeth can you please tell me if they went away and how long it took?? Is there anything I can use to speed the process up?? I would never recommend having your teeth whitened to anyone. This has been a horrible experience for me!!!

I had this procedure done a few weeks ago. I had already semi-white teeth- nothing riduclously colored ,but it made the majority of the teeth at the front of my mouth bright white, but couldnt get the ones in the back or a few at the side. I had to use the touch up kit for the vampire teeth on each side. but other than that they are sparkling. Would i do this again..Hell no.

This procedure was wayyy to painful. #1 i thought it was only 3 15min sessions. It ended up being 4. But for $500 bucks i force myself to finish. I cant believe the amount of pain i faced doing this. The first 15 minute session was not bad, but the last few minutes a couple of my bottom teeth were sensitive. No, i did not take any pain killers before hand. All the people I have seen get their teeth whitened never complained about the sensitivity of it- so why would i think to take a pain killer.
1st session was fine. last few minutes. a couple of bottom teeth began to ache. The second session..i had couple zaps starting off in the same spot, and my dentist applied more gel. It didn help much-made it through that session. Then- I couldn wait to start the 3rd because i thought it was my final one. Come to find out I had one more..i wanted to scream. The zaps started getting intense in the 3rd session and i was gonna just say screw it.. but i made it and started the final. This session was painful..i was squirming..felt as if it was getting electrocuted the entire time. glad thats over...now the worst part was recoverey.

As soon as we finished and i opend my mouth to talk..i was being zapped repeatedly. When air hit these teeth..my goodness..I BARELY could speak to the dentist..very painful. My cell was ringing--had to cut conversation short because of the pain.. As soon as i made it home..popped one ibuprofen....so these zaps started to turn into shocks... it looked like i had turets. Seriously. I went to a restaurant that night and had dinner...and was drinking water through a straw. What was wierd..was that i could eat fine..long as nothing cold touch my teeth.. As soon as I stopped eating...zaps.... By that night I had popped 4 ipbuprofen and a sleeping pill.. The next day not one zap. I was relieved. I was worried that i would be zapped during my sleep, but nothhing.

This was not worth the money. Wayyy to painful. Not even sure if my teeth have remained as bright as they were. Also, its best to do research on other teeth whitening laser products because i am assuming not all are painful. I have a touch up kit that I have used once and stopped using it because it reinitated the sensitivity.

I initially did the take home bleaching for a few weeks but I still wasn't getting the results I wanted so my dentist suggested I try Zoom whitening for really dramatic whitening. I attached before (after the home bleaching but before the Zoom) and after pictures.

My teeth are still not as white as I'd like them to be, but my dentist warned me not to expect movie star white teeth. I don't regret getting the Zoom whitening simply because I really wanted to get my teeth as while as possible, but I would not recommend Zoom whitening if your teeth aren't super discolored like mine.

I lasted through the entire series of four 30-minuted sessions but I experienced a lot of pain during the last two sessions. The zingers were quite painful for me, despite popping a few Motrin and using a prescription desensitizing toothpaste for 2 months before the procedure. At times, it seemed like all my teeth were zinging one after the other. It hurt a lot but I stuck with it because I wanted to get my money's worth. I don't understand how some people can experience no pain at all but I guess it really varies. I was still experiencing pain 4 hours later and the rest of that night into the next morning. The desensitizing gel did nothing and seemed to make the pain worse so I didn't even bother using it after the first couple tries that night.

I personally do not recommend Zoom whitening unless you are desperate to whiten your teeth dramatically. It can be quite painful for some people, and the pain and expense are not worth getting your teeth whitened 4 or 5 shades.

You have to be really brave to do this, the zingers are hideous and last for up to 2 days after the treatment. My teeth are whiter and i have yet to decide if it was worth it or not.

I had the procedure done today from 12:30 to about 2:30. I somehow made it through all 4 of the 15 minute sessions. Besides the discomfort of the mouth clamp, the first 2 session were relatively painless. However, at some point in the 3rd session I got my first "zinger" and it was one of the most painful things I have ever felt. They come out of now where and its a pain that cant even be described. Luckily they only last a 2-3 seconds (if that) but it honestly feels like an eternity. They became much more frequent during the 4th session but it was bearable. Up to that point I was ok because I was expecting it to hurt and figured it was over. What I was not expecting was for the zingers to get worse and more frequent. For about an hour after the treatment the zingers were almost non stop and again the excruciating pain. After the first hour they did seem to slow down significantly but it could have been the 800mg of Advil they gave me. Its now been 8 hours since the treatment and the zingers have pretty much gone but now i have a constant pain that feels like I bit into a freezing cold pop-sickle. Doesn't seem to be getting better either. My teeth are definitely whiter and the product definitely works but i don't think i would recommend it to anyone primarily because of the severe pain i experienced and am still experiencing. It's too early for me to decide if it was worth it but so far i would say no. I think there are other, less extreme options out there. bleaching trays and crest white strips might not be as effective or quick but they definitely don't hurt anything close to what im going through at the moment and i don't have particularly sensitive teeth. I guess i should add that the majority of the pain i feel is at the top of the bottom teeth.

I just left the dentist office after having my teeth cleaned and whitened using the ZOOM! method. I did not read reviews and decided impulsively at the office to have my teeth whitened for my wedding. My dentist had it done and said that it would be slightly uncomfortable and that could last for up to 24 hours. She did not tell me that I would be experiencing shooting pains in every one of my front teeth every 30 seconds. I couldn't last through my last 15-minute session with the light (treatment consists of 3 15-minute light sessions) I have taken 800 mg of ibuprofen (as directed) used the sensitivity gel that they gave me and taken a Vicodin and I am still experiencing zingers every 30 seconds (they actually became worse after the treatment was finished) My teeth are brighter but have white spots on them and are not nearly as white as I envisioned them being. After reading all of the reviews, I am hoping they do not fade in the next couple of days. I also have the trays which I will pick up next week, although I am not sure I will be brave enough to try this again... Unfortunately, I must be the 5 out of 100 patients that experience severe pain.

DO NOT DO THIS!!! WORST EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD. I won this in a raffle and wish I had never done it. I had the most severe pain i've ever experienced for about 8 hrs straight after the procedure. The "zingers" are the most awful pain and take your breath away. They were only for about ten seconds at a time but I had them every min or two for 4 hrs straight and then for the next 4 hrs they were more sporadic but still there. My teeth were really white for the first day or two but now they look the same and I actually have white spots on them that I did not have previously. I'm hoping my teeth will go back to normal and the spots will go away. My teeth were not bad before and so I again wish I had not done this. Oh well you live and learn I guess.

Wow! What a a waste of money! After 5 days, my teeth are nearly the same shade they were before the $575 treatment! I feel I was completely ripped off!

Very pleased. Just had it done - no pain, in fact fell asleep in the chair during the process.

I had heard about the pain and was prepared for the worst; pleasantly surprised to have had no pain. I have some chipped teeth that I thought would create pain issues, but that was not the case.

SIGNIFICANT difference in color. I have tried the high-end strips purchased from dentist offices, and they do not compare to the results from Zoom.

The results were way better than expected. I had it done today and have had some zingers, but the pain is manageable with medication. My dentist charges a high price, but is exceptionally careful to apply the protective ointment to my gums as the bleach can hurt when exposed to your gums. I also was given touch up treatments to use at home afterwards. I am no longer embarrassed to smile!

After reading all the comments I was pretty afraid to get my zoom whitening done. I found this offer off of groupon and paid only 79 bucks. I did not know that there was so many types of zoom.

I ended up with a 3 session 15 minute bleaching, but it did not have the light that a lot of you guys on here had. I thought that was what I was getting into, but I didn`t. So I didn`t feel any pain in any of the 3 sessions.. except it was weird in the beginning with they shined the light on my teeth ... I felt some kind of weird pain.. I had a feeling if that was the light they let me bleach my teeth would then I probably wouldn`t like the feeling at all. I am very glad that I didn`t do that one.

When I finished I felt a zinger on my bottom tooth and some sensitivity later the day... nothing unbearable... I suggest you only get this zoom if you get a good deal on it... Cause I felt like I was only 2-3 shades lighter than I already was... Couldn`t really see a difference and my teeth were not yellow or anything.. Pretty white, but I wanted whiter!

I hope this review helps!

I just want to add that the people who didn't have any pain and are satisfied wit their results are less likely to post reviews than whoever had a bad experience. As for my experience: I work in a dental office and probably 1 out of every 10 patients feels any sensitivity at all. And probably 5 out of 100 feel real pain.

Had a Zoom appointment today at Vestavia Family Dentistry. I went in a little nervous after reading all of the reviews. But, Candice did a great job. She took a lot of time to make sure my gums were protected. She explained everything about the procedure and how long each step was going to take. Absolutely no pain during or after the procedure. I have had maybe several very minor zings late this afternoon. I had great results and would recommend Vestavia Family Dentistry for Zoom as well as other procedures. I had no problem with ZOOM. Also, thanks to Dr. Pruitt and all his staff.

Had the zoom done yesterday and I could not get through the third round of the light due to swollen lip and burnt lips. Said I would have to come back for third round as a touch up. My gums are fine but the lip looks like I had a bad collegen injection. I wish I had just tried crest strips first. Another thing I thought odd was I was told that my trays wouldn't be ready til next day. But I was told that while my pores were open I needed to be using trays. How is one to do that unless they have them? Therefore I feel I got ripped off.

I had this treatment done about two months ago, at first my teeth were quite wite (not as white as i had hoped but still a difference). However boy did it hurt! So the dentist told me that some patients feel pain usually in the second round of applying the gel (there are 3 applications each time you wait 20 minutes with the laser applied to your mouth). Towards the 1st round i started feeling a sharp pain, sort of like an electric shock, but the second round was a nightmare and I am usually brave when it comes to pain but with this I had tears in my eyes. My teeth were in so much pain i still cringe to think about it now! Anyway i got through it and my teeth were whiter than before, i had quite yellow teeth due to an overload of coffee and chocolate. But as time went on the whiteness began to fade, even though i stopped drinking coffee and cut out staining foods. So disapointed I can see why people have this done every 3months but please if your considering this try something else beforehand such as crest whitening strips which work really well. This is to be honest a big waste of money.

I have microdontia, essentially just "small teeth" and with that being said, I have a larger tendency for sensitivity. I knew that going in. I also stayed as consistent at possible with the high-fluoride toothpaste they gave me to help strengthen the sensitivity to help with the pain. This morning, (about 20 hours ago) I took the 800mg ibuprofen and lasted about 3 1/4 sessions in to the Zoom! treatment. Upon the last session, I had a "zinger' that must have lasted at least 15-20 seconds. Oh, how unbearable. It sent me into a panic and had to stop. The tray with the soothing gel most certainly helped. I also had a smidge of gum damage that was with right behind my tooth. However, it was fixed and treated immediately once I brought it to the attention of the staff. I have no pain or scarring (can't even tell it happened) to my gums. Post treatment, I had quite the number of random zingers to plague me. 20 hours later, I cannot sleep because of the sensitivity and discomfort I am feeling, even the soothing gel is not easing the pain, in fact, it was making it worse. I was foolish, though not forewarned about consuming any hot or cold meals or beverages or even sweets for that matter for my evening meal and therefore, may set myself up for this agony. I would advise against it, and I would agree that not talking (or keeping your mouth closed) does help keep it from hurting. I am still having tiny zingers here and there, but at this point, that pain is basically blending in with the current pain. Ibuprofen is not sending any relief either, but like I said, I have already sensitive teeth, yet I made this decision and will have to deal with it. I am hoping that the pain will go away soon as I would love to get some sleep.

On a brighter note, I went SIX SHADES brighter. I feel like have the most beautiful smile especially after wearing braces for eight years and smoking (lots of fun stains to be removed). I love it. I recommend it, I really do. Just be cautious that the sensitivity is no joke. Use the good high-fluoride toothpaste to help with the sensitivity, brush twice-three times with it every day for a full TWO MINUTES for two weeks. DO NOT PLAY, IT WILL HELP. Make sure to take the ibuprofen before the procedure and avoid serious foods and liquids that will cause further discomfort. All in all, worth it.

Got Zoomed today, went for all 4 sessions. Not painful, technician did an excellent job protecting my gums and tongue.
However, the zingers are killing me! Talk about getting zinged! Its like an electrical shock that comes out of nowhere, stops you cold, and lasts for about 5-10 seconds, which is an eternity!
Did not get any trays or anything for home use.
Whitened my teeth 2 shades, which apparently was a lot since the technician once I had finished the procedure commented that my teeth were pretty white to begin with!!! The dentist spent about 20 minutes last visit telling me how stained and yellow they were! Pissed me off there!
I hope the zingers fade, will be going to get some sensodyne toothpaste as I declined the $18.00 dollar little sample tube that was offered. Same tube size as I would get for a travel bag for overnight for $1.00 at the drugstore! OK, maybe it is stronger than sensodyne, but at that price I can buy several tubes of sensodyne and go to town!
Was only told to not eat or drink colored items for the next few day, now wondering where to get this "clear food" lol.... sounds like white rice and chicken for me!
Overall, I would advise to make sure that you need the procedure, that you are aware of the awful zingers and that this isnt something that you could use the whitening strips for or baking soda. Even a small change would be apparent to you, do you really need to go all Hollywood?

Had the Zoom procedure this morning..4-15 minute sessions but start to finish with prep and wrap up it took 4 hours. After reading the messages here I think it comes down to your sensitivity and the technician that completes your work. I used the Sensidyne (sp) toothpaste for two weeks before my procedure and took Ibuprofen ahead of time. the 4 sessions went by quickly, not pain during or since this morning at 9:00. My teeth are 7 shades lighter. I am very happy with the outcome and would highly recommend...but know your dentist and the Tech that completes the procedure.
