Oh my god. The worst pain of my entire life!
I had zoom done because it is very popular in the US and I know a lot of people opt for zoom if they do not have veneers and just want bright white teeth.
I have had several cosmetic surgery procedures, some with long recovery times and none of them have inflicted me with the amount of pain that zoom did.
I was supposed to have 4x20min treatments. I got completed two out of four treatments and that is it! Which I think they should have halved the price I paid!! £500 aka $700/$800 USD (dependant on currency exchange rates). I still had to pay full price eventhough I had 2 sessions instead of 4. The "zingers" aka electric shock sensations came about 3/4 of the way through the first treatment. It was bearable but by the end of the second treatment I had tears rolling down my face. It felt like I was being tortured.
The gel was put on for the 3rd treatment but as soon as the light/laser was shining on my teeth it had to be washed off immediately.
The "zingers" continued on for about 6 hours afterwards with sensitivity continuing on upto 3 days later.
Results? average. The only good thing to come out of it was my custom built whitening trays and being introduced to nitewhite ACP 22%.... FANTASTIC stuff, do it yourself at home and only minimal sensitivity for upto a max of 24 hours. Lasts up to a year too before it starts to fade. (But I dont drink red wine, coffee or smoke.)
I don't understand why zoom is the most popular and expensive whitening treatment out there? Nitewhite is much better but you do need to visit your dentist and pay for custom built trays to be made.
Would not advise anyone to have zoom!

I gave this product a 1 in affordability because it retails for over $500. I used a groupon which only cost me $120. Without the groupon, this service is way overpriced.

Now for the actual procedure. As I am sure you are doing, I read many of these reviews prior to purchasing this service. I was scared out of my mind, but thought, "Oh, it can't be that bad. It won't hurt that bad for me." But boy was I WRONG. I have never felt such intense pain in my entire life. I didn't experience the infamous "zingers" but I did experience what can only be described as my teeth being set on fire. The actual nerves at the base of my teeth felt like they were on fire. I was on the verge of going insane during the hours following the procedure because I couldn't find any relief. I couldn't even speak because the air hitting my teeth made me want to throw up due to the pain. I finally went to sleep for 13 hours, and am now feeling reasonably better. I would never go through that tortuous process again, and I don't recommend this to anyone. Save your money, time, sanity, and pain-free mouth.

I would not recommend the Zoom Whitening System for anyone with even remotely sensitive teeth. My teeth are slightly sensitive, but I've never had any big issues with sensitivity. I found Zoom to be completely unbearable. I received my first zinger at the beginning of round 1! It wasn't that bad and I kept going. By the end of round 1, I had constant pain across all of my teeth. It was not pleasant. I decided to try for round 2, but I couldn't make it through. The zingers were not my problem -- although I did have some. I was experiencing an intense, constant pain. It was probably the worst pain of my entire life.

Since I couldn't make it all the way through the process, my teeth are only a shade or two whiter than they were. My dentist office offered to finish the procedure at another time, but I'm going to pass. I'd rather have stained teeth than go through this again...

Okay so I've had zoom done for the first time last week, and guys! I wouldn't reccommend this treatment...why you might ask?

not because of these zingers people experience, if you prep your teeth like everyone has said it shouldn't be too bad.

but the fact that it cost me £395 to make no difference.

okay so I had them whitened, had photos taken before and after, and I have really yellow looking teeth, they were white...amazing! I was so happy with the result, dedicated to keeping them white for as long as I could.

fast forward only 2 days! And my teeth where back the original shade, I don't know why I didn't eat any coloured foods/drinks...I only drink water/milk! No coffee or tea, smoking, etc.

so would I ever recommend no, I've heard my dentist offers another procedure called enlighten, you wear the trays for 14 days and on the 15th have an in office procedure...they state on their website you're guaranteed a shade of b1! Which is apparently the whitest natural shade you can have, I will definitely be trying this lol because I'm not happy with the zoom.

I had the Zoom whitening 2 days ago. Was skeptical after reading all the comments about "zingers". I never had a single moment of discomfort either during or after. The results were excellent. Highly recommend the procedure. Had 3, 20 minute treatments.

Got my teeth done today at Dental Works. Other than not liking to get the mouth piece put in all went smooth. No zingers and teeth look great after the four 14 minute sessions. Was worried after reading all the horror stories but am so happy with the result.

From what I have read, and what I have been told by my dentist. Crest white strips aren't just as effective as Zoom. This is so because Zoom goes deeper into the tooth whitening it more, while strips don't go as deep. That's why you feel pain, because it's going deep into your tooth for a whiter white. Most people probably don't use flouride, or desensitizing toothpaste in the weeks before treatment, which is a must if you want less pain. It goes into the pores of your teeth making them less sensitive. It is highly recommended that you use toothpaste like Sensodyne or something like it in preparation for your treatment. Hope this helps. The pain will be there but it's definitely the best white you will ever get!

Just got my zoom this morning. The zingers started before I even left the office. I wish they had told me beforehand so I could also prepare with fluoride ahead of time. They are not unbearable, just irritating as hell. As far at whitening goes I would give it a 7 out of 10. She was honest about it not making everyone's teeth stark white, mine did not get as white as I expected. I still think it was worth the 300$ to get my teeth a good 5 shades lighter in only 1 1/2 hrs..

Weeks before I had zoom I was given a special floride toothpaste to help with sensitivity. I brushed 3 times a day for 2 1/2 weeks. The day of treatment I ws told to take Advil an hour before the appt. The only problem I had during the application was right after the second round of bleaching. A gum was slighty esposed. The sealant on my gums was coming up a bit. The girl replaced the sealant. I felt no pain during the 3rd and final step. Since I had no pain I was told I could bump up the whiteness if I wanted by wearing the tray with bleach for the next two hours. I choose to do it. After the first hour my gums were starting to hurt so I took it off. Glad I did because for the next couple of days my gums felt like they were sunburned. My teeth are a little sensitive but no zingers. I can eat just fine, but it is cold outside and the cold air does hurt a bit on my teeth. All in all I'd do it again. I love my teeth! My advice if your going to have the procedure done is to use the special floride toothpaste before and after Zoom and don't bump up the whitening right away. give your teeth and gums time.

This is the most painful experience I have ever brought on myself. White teeth? More like blinding white stabbing pain that last for the better part of 24 hours! By the forth treatment I was sweating bullets from pain. They told me when I sat down that I "might" expericen "zingers." Isn't that word, zingers, cute? It certainly does not describe what I'm going through. I would not wish this upon anyone. Don't do it! Oh GOD, don't do it!

i had really bad yellow teeth from years of coffee and smoking. when i got down with zoom, i think the first 10 minutes my teeth were white. then after a couple of hours and the second day my teeth went back to its original state. mind you i followed all the dr's orders and not eating anything with color or smoked in fact i barely ate anything at all. i think this product is ok for people with white teeth already and they wont see much difference and they will be happy. as far as people with dark yellow teeth from years of abuse will see only short term results. not worth it in the long run, might as well got the whitening strips from the store.

I am extremely disappointed. I got very minimal results. The results I got with Crest Whitestrips was equal for MUCH LESS money! I feel like I just wasted my money. My teeth are only one shade lighter, barely noticable. I certainly would not have paid $605 if I was not led to believe that the results would be dramatic. I did not have teeth sensitivity to the ZOOM, but did to the "overnight" gel that they gave me to use at home. I could only use the trays for an hour before my bottom teeth throbbed in pain. Why did I pay all of this money if I have to do the majority of work whitening at home? I could have just bought Crest Whitestrips! My dentist said,"Not everyone will have great results. Some people's teeth are just never going to be white." I wish he had been honest enough to tell me this ahead of time! Then I could have made an educated decision. He agreed to ZOOM them again for me to see if we could get any better results, but will not give me any of my money back. Bottom line: My experience showed me that Crest Whitestrips do the SAME thing for a small portion of the cost. If they don't get your teeth white, neither will the Zoom. Teeth are a natural substance and everyone's teeth are different. Some people just will not have white teeth no matter what they use.

I have wanted my teeth whitened for a while now. After several attempts using the white strips I had to stop as they made me nauseous as did the mouthwash. This was the perfect way to whiten my teeth within a 2 hour window. Success!

The procedure was slightly uncomfortable but once the mold was adjusted I was fine. I too was told my teeth may be sensitive but I had no clue about the "zingers". According to the hygienist (she was great in talking me through every step) my teeth were pretty white. I experienced no pain after the first 2 treatments and was pretty satisfied, she thought it was best to finish the 3rd to ensure I received the best results. Wow... 10 minutes into it I experienced my first zinger on the lower left canine. A few minutes later I was feeling my second on the lower right... this time I put my hand up and said I'm done. I had no idea that was normal. She said this may continue for up to 3 days and suggested I take Advil and use a sensitive toothpaste to coat the area.

It's been 4 hours now and I am still feeling those zingers on occasion but they only last for a second or two. Talk about "its better to look good than feel good". I'm just glad these are temporary.

All in all I am quite pleased. My teeth are shiny white - the best result I could have asked for. After the zingers subside I am sure I will be willing to do this again. Great value for results.

I had zoom done today. I was a bit nervous because I had researched the internet before making the appointment and saw the stories of zingers. I made the appointment last week and asked them to prescribe or give me fluoride from the to use on my teeth at night until I went. They just filled a small cup with their fluoride gel to take home. I also used sensodyne toothpaste when I brushed. I did both for seven days before the appointment. I had no zingers at all during the process. I was out of there by 345 this afternoon and it is now 1045 and I have still had no zingers. Not sure if that's just me or was the use of the fluoride and sensodyne. I had been fitted for the trays for maintenance , and was given a gel to use with them if I did have zingers this evening. To be safe. I put the trays in when I got home, they're clear and you can't even tell you are wearing them because of course, they were fitted for my mouth,. So... to be safe I just kept them in except for eating. Even had a meeting and went to the grocery store, people can't tell you are wearing them and I felt like it was protecting my teeth from cold air that may cause something. Needless to say... No Zingers and my teeth look great! made it through all 4 sessions half asleep listening to my ipod. Recommend if doing this to ask for fluoride and use the sensodyne to desensitize your teeth before the procedure. I do know everyone is different, but this certainly can't hurt. My cost included the mouth trays and gel for maintenance for up to a year,

Just got my teeth whitened this morning. It went extremely well! I have been wanting to get my teeth whitened for awhile, so when the Living Social deal came along - I seized the opportunity. The hygienist was very thorough with her explanation of the process. I felt a little bit of discomfort during the first two sessions, but nothing too terrible. I didn't feel any "zingers" until the middle of the 3rd session. By the end of the 4th session, the "zingers" became more intense.

I am pretty happy with the results. My teeth look whiter and brighter. Unfortunately, because I had braces when I was younger, there are marks on my teeth from where the cement was placed. The dentist said it isn't likely that these stains from the cement will go away; however, they did improve.

Overall I am very satisfied with the results. Still dealing with the zingers, but otherwise, all went well. I would recommend it to a friend... as long as they can tolerate a little pain.

Had my zoom treatment today and was pleasantly surprise how my teeth turn out. I had discolored teeth all my life because of a an antibiotic treatment that was given to me when i was little. I've tried all kinds of stuff to whiten my teeth but it didn't do anything. I was surprise how effective Zoom is. The first three session was okay but the last one was painful. It wasn't the worst pain in the world but i was ready to get up when they finish. The "zingers" did come right away and last about 8 hours. I took a Tylenol for the pain and it help. Overall, it worth the pain to see my discolored teeth looking bright and white. My dentist did a great job covering my gums and explaining the procedure and the sensitivity that may come with it. Definitely worth it rather then crest whitening, trays, etc.

Had the zoom about 5.5 hrs ago. Wasn't mentioned about the zingers..Was slightly passed off as "you may experience some sensitivity". Thought that was odd as it was stressed to me to simply bang on the table (please don't break it) if you need us and we'll hear you as though an agonizing cry was being anticipated. During the first session, I did experience some burning in the upper right gum area which was unexpected (wonder why this was unexpected?). Dentist checked it out & said the gums were covered well. I wanted to continue so I dealt with it. Wasn't so bad after a while. I have a high threshold for pain. Then during the second session, right lower jaw in the canine tooth, I experienced the seemingly popular zinger. Not fun. Came in short bursts. Although clearly not as intolerable as most in this forum have made it seem. To them I say, suck it up and stop crying. You messed up your teeth and you want them clean again so deal. Over all not the worst you could go through. Uncomfortable..yes.. Outcome..Teeth whiter...problems...lots of spotting and streaks..uneven whitening (was a heavy smoker)...Finally...everyone's experience will be different. You must decide if it is worth while to you. Best of luck..

I had Zoom whitening done as well as veneers for my front teeth all in the same visit. The dentist worked on my veneers first, so I was somewhat numb when I started the Zoom. I was warned that it would be uncomfortable, but I had no idea what I was in for. I have never felt that kind of pain in my life! I started feeling the zingers in the second of four sessions. I kept going because I wanted to get my moneys worth. There were tears rolling down my face, I was hot and sweaty, and I was starting to shake. I was so proud of myself that I made it to the end. Despite all of the pain my teeth looked so good, I couldn't have been happier with my results. It has been almost 2 years and my teeth are still sensitive, but they still look good. I would not recommend this treatment to anyone!

Its been 3 years i had Zoom! Whitening, its also white even after smoking and drinkin pepsi. The fact is, it a 3 20min sessions bleaching and it was like they burning by lava, with like electric pulsions "zingers" even after i had zingers when i opened mouth. I also cried!! , it was brutal BUT my girlfriend had it yesterday, she took desenbility toothpaste (Sensodyne) 2weeks before, 2 advil extra strong just before Zoom and she said she had no pain! Seriously you want to have a whitening...you'll suffer but it worth it, are you tired to be shy of smiling like i was, its works for real do it, no pain no gain !

Use Crest white strips they are just as efficient and cheaper. If you're looking to do zoom because you think it'll all be over in an hour versus 14 days of strips it's probably not a good idea. I read reviews on here after I purchased Zoom and was worried, even the dental assistant warned me I'd be unlikely to make it through more than 2 sessions. Well, I made it through two sessions with super ease, no discomfort whatsoever so i thought piece of cake and I'll make it through all four! Then the third started and 5-10 minutes into it BAMM I get hit with this intense zapping pain in my lower teeth and stopped immediately. My teeth did get to the whitest sample shade they had (my teeth were already apparently really white because I was just two shades from "perfect" before Zoom). It's been about an hour since the procedure and every 15-20 minutes I get those same zingers everyone talks about. Zinger almost sounds cute, but it is a major pain down through the tooth's nerve. Granted it lasts about 2-3 seconds, but let me tell you it's major discomfort--pain really. Save the money and do Crest white strips. If you're wondering how I got two shades from perfect before Zoom that was how and I hadn't used the strips in years minus one here and there for maintenance. I don't know, I guess I was chasing better with Zoom and "perfection" I suppose. Not worth it!

I just had Zoom Whitening done this morning and was extremely scared after reading a lot of the reviews posted here. The assisant assured me that the burning of the lips was related to the operator and she has never burned anyone's lips. My lips are now not burnt at all. She was great at protecting the area.
I had only 1 zinger through the procedure which scared me, but only lasted 2 seconds. Other than that I only experienced very slight discomfort.
A couple hours after the procedure I had my second Zinger.. this time less intense and again only last a couple seconds. I then started having very very small ones more frequently after that, but to be honest, I had more pain after using WhiteStrips the last box I used (which is why I had to stop using them and seek other options).
My teeth are much whiter and more even than any at home product I've used, and the discomfort is not bad at all.
I would definitely recommend this procedure.

Well.. I just got thru doing the ZOOM 2 treatment about 45 minutes ago....
I have done BriteSmile 2 times in the past. My first Britesmile experience was good, up until the minute I was leaving and then BAM! a shooting pain, which I was not warned about at ALL! The results were awesome, but I ended up getting a pain pill prescription and staying home the rest of the day from work because of the pain. The next Britesmile a few years later and I took some pain pills before I went and only did 3 of the 4 timed treatments and it wasn't so bad. Well fast forward to today.... ZOOM 2 time. Took some extra strength tylenol before (just in case of potential zingers)... The session went good, 4 15 minute treatments and no pain! Then BAM!.. just as I was walking out the door, a zinger hit! Shoot! Stopped at the store on the way back to work to get more tylenol because it is really awful pain. I think one of the worst parts is you know how bad they hurt, but you don't know when they will hit you, so the anticipation sucks too. My teeth look pretty good, but seriously, just do the trays.. this is the 3rd time I've done this and the trays work just as well and there is little to no pain. NEVER AGAIN!

I had my teeth bleached yesterday in my dentist's office with the Zoom. My dentist had me brush my teeth with Fluoridex for 4 weeks prior to my appointment for the whitening. I almost cancelled my appointment after reading the reviews but now am glad I didn't.

I had four 15 minute sessions and had no pain at all. My dentist sent me home with gel to use in case of sensitivity but I haven't had to use it. After I got home I had one tiny bit of pain in one tooth but only for a second or two.

I'm thinking that the people who experienced pain may have not prepared their teeth beforehand by desensitizing their teeth with the special toothpaste.

My teeth look so much better and I will start the whitening trays at home tomorrow night which will even make them whiter.

I was so excited to get this done, but now I wished I'd just saved up for veneers! We had to stop after the 2nd session because the pain was pretty bad- and yes, I've given birth and had surgeries before. My teeth are almost 3 shades lighter, but the zingers are just awful. Luckily I haven't had any constant pain, but the surprise attack zingers have been going on all over my mouth for about 6 hours now. They gave me 800mg of Ibuprofen, but so far it hasn't helped. I wish they'd been more upfront about the side effects.

I had my teeth whitened this morning at 11am. I have wanted to do this for a long time to brighten my smile but it was not something I had to do. I began receiving small zingers at the end of round 2 or the seond session, but like others mentioned I went on until I stopped it near the end of the fourth session because I wa getting some pretty intense zingers. 8 hours later I am in constant pain, cannot talk or open my mouth becsuse of the intense sensitivity in all of my teeth, most especially the bottom ones. I would not recommend this proceedure to anyone and had I seen these reviews I would not have had it done either. I cannot function even though I have taken six ibuprophen over the last 8 hours. Please reconsider your decision to use Zoom 2 whitening! You will be sorry too.

I had my teeth whitened three days ago and I couldn't be happier. I'm 65 years old and have been planning to do this for some time. The process went very well, no pain during the procedure. Later that night I had one tooth that had a chip in it for years did have a few "smarts". But nothing to write home about. Now I'm using the trays and they are looking better each time. I can only speak for myself, but for the price and time and follow up I think I did the right thing for me.
I had read many of the reviews before I went, but I figured most of the painful reviews came from men and they have never given birth!!!

On a scale of 1 (whitest) to 10 (darkest), my teeth were about a 4.5 before the procedure. I expected to be at least a 2 but I would say at most I'm a 3.5 right now, so I went down a barely noticeable shade level. I have been smoking for three years now and I drank Diet Coke a lot for a long time, but otherwise I take good care of my teeth and don't drink coffee or tea. The friend who accompanied claims my teeth do look brighter.

The bigger disappointment, though, was the unevenness afterwards. Some of my teeth are more yellow than the others due to braces in the past. I knew they wouldn't all be uniform white, but now it's more obvious that they are different colors because my whiter teeth got way whiter. I also have some grooves and dents in my tooth enamel and if you look very closely under bright light you will notice faint "freckles" on my teeth from what the lamp couldn't lighten. I had this procedure done yesterday and as of now, I still have white marks on the edges of my teeth (which the dentist said will go away in 24 hrs).

As everyone else mentioned, the pain was pretty bad. I'd compare it to the feeling of sucking air through a cavity, if you've ever experienced that. That's what it feels like in the entire front of your teeth after it's done.

Overall, it's not worth it. Like I said, my teeth weren't THAT dark to begin with so I was hoping for a crazy, bright, like up the room smile. But it really only seemed to wash away some of the discoloration.

My sister & mom offered to pay for this procedure for me as aChristmas present. My sister had the procedure without the great pain people are talking about. She did get the zingers, but they subsided and her teeth look nice. (my rating is based on her results)

However, I'm not so brave. I had an appointment set up and then found this site. Appointment has been cancelled and $400 has been saved. I'll stick to rinsing with my $1.89 hydrogen peroxide.

I just had Zoom done today. I am regreting working after the procedure! My teeth are still hurting 12 hours after! The painful zings are still there and my teeth are aching now constantly. I am really hoping this is over soon. I used the groupon deal for 99 dollars. If I had spent 500, I would be so upset right now. My teeth are whiter, but I did not expect this much pain. My teeth are normally not sensitive. I can't imagine what it would feel like if they were normally!! I have used other bleaching trays and white strips and never felt this pain before. So good luck if you are going to try Zoom!

**HONEST REVIEW**

Each individual is going to experience different levels of pain depending on both how sensitive their teeth are, and what kind of preparation they do.

I got Zoom Teeth Whitening done by my dentist, who carefully explained the procedure to me beforehand, and about these "zingers".

In order to prepare my teeth, she gave me a prescription for Duraphat 5000ppm Sodium Fluoride toothpaste which I was to use for about a week beforehand to help de-sensitise my teeth (not that they were sensitive before). I was also given a painkiller directly before we started.

The actual procedure itself wasn't that bad a all. Like many of you I read all of these comments and went into the Dental Surgery almost dreading it as I did not want to be in as much pain as I had read everyone else was in. The first 15minutes were fine, no pain, no discomfort. The second 15minutes were ok too, got one or two very minor zingers which weren't really anything to write about. Ok so I was really not looking forward to the final 15minutes as this seemed to be the most painful. It was absolutely fine! In fact the little zingers in the 2nd 15minute stage were worse.

So I completed the 3 sessions and the Dentist took out all of the stuff in my mouth and then showed me the results. My teeth were much whiter. I'm 24 years old and don't drink coffee or red wine so my teeth were quite white to begin with but after the treatment they still were noticably whiter, which I was really pleased about.

When I left the Dental Surgery and went home, I did start to have zingers, however my Dentist had given me soothing gel to rub on my teeth, which helped. I just took another 2 painkillers and went to sleep, which I think is the best thing to do because when I woke up there was no pain and there were no zingers. Although I do want to state that when I was having zingers they were not the "ungodly, excruciating" pain that people are scaring you with on here.

Bottom line is, it's not that bad, and certainly bearable. The results are good, and if you prepare your teeth beforehand by using the correct toothpaste (which your Dentist should be giving you prior to the treatment anyway) then you'll be fine and pleased with the results. I am now continuing to do the home treatment to keep them white.

I got my teeth whitened yesterday at 2pm by Zoom and by 4:30pm I was in the worst pain I have ever been in my life. It was sensitive burning and sharp. It actually brought me to tears and I have a high pain threshold. Never ever ever would I reccomend this to anyone. I was so excited about this procedure and got told to expect some sensitivity afterwords but what I experienced was way way worse. I took 2 x paracetomal and 2 x ibuprofen ever 4 hours and it did not dull the pain down atall. It was unbearable.
Before getting this procedure understand that it is agony and in my opinion completely not worth it.
I have woke up just now and the pain has dulled down alot but that last 24 hours were not worth it.

I had my teeth whitened today and I am very happy with the results. Even though I am having zings in 2 of my bottom teeth (one is really bothering me), it is worth and it should go away. My zings started during the 3rd session, but I finished the whole thing because I wanted to get what I paid for. Yes there is pain, but they tell you before the procedure. If you want to distract yourself, bring an mp3 player...it will help! Your dentist should also prescribe you a strong pain reliever (this helped the zing in one of my top teeth subside). So happy with smile now!

I would have never paid full price for zoom. I was able to get this treatment for about $130. All I know is I will never get this procedure again. At first I didn't feel anything then all of sudden, a zinger! Holy crap does it hurt. I have usually high pain tolerance, but the pain turns from gradual to constant annoying pain. I don't think having white teeth is worth the pain at all. Well, I got this done and this will be my first and last time ever.... I don't know how I'll be able to sleep..All I know if you can take the annoying pain...and surprise zingers then go for it. If not, then save yourself the trouble and money. Just go with crest strips.

My daughter had this treatment done. We were only told that there will be some slight tooth sensitivity after the treatment. In fact, the pain my daughter was in was horrific. If I had known how bad the pain could be I would not have allowed her to have the treatment. Dentists who do not warn of the possibility of extreme pain from this treatment are misleading and deceiving the public. DO NOT DO IT!

Ridiculous. I paid $300 and had my Zoom treatment done 8 days ago. My teeth are already back to their original color. For a couple of days, I ate "white/uncolored" foods that would not stain my teeth. Plus, I used whitening toothpaste. I also brush after every meal. (And, no, I do not smoke; nor do I even drink coffee.) So WHY are my teeth back to their original shades? Also, my were not 8 shades lighter after the treatment. It was more like 4-5ish. You might as well buy effective-less over the counter whitening strips. Zoom Treatment is not worth any money you will pay because it does not make your teeth that much lighter; plus, you will have that annoying pain in your teeth and gums for a couple of days. The pain and un-effectiveness made my experience deem that Zoom is a rip-off.

Had Zoom today. I was a little hesitant after reading reviews of the tooth sensitivity, zinger type pain and gum pain. I have to say I had none of that. My teeth are alot whiter. Bottom line I'm very happy with the results, the cost was reasonable.

Paid $99.00

I had my reservations doing this because I had Bright Smile done 6 years ago when I was in high school and it was the crappiest experience as far as pain and zingers are concerned. My mom talked me into doing Zoom because she just had it done a few months ago and said she had no pain at all. I had a boost of confidence and went for it, bad idea! I wish I hadn't. I am 6 hours out of the procedure and I want to rip all my teeth out of my mouth. At first the pain was bearable and it wasn't constant. Several hours ago the pain became 100% constant, accompanied by the surprising zinger every so often. Six years I figured the technology would be way more advanced and I wouldn't feel any pain, but I am reminded exactly why I originally told myself I'd never do it again. Not only am I in excruciating pain, but I am unimpressed with the outcome of my teeth. Yes, they are a tad whiter...but on several teeth their are splotches of bright white...very uneven on some teeth. It is fading a bit but still noticeable. My mom had her teeth done less than 2 months ago and they have reverted back to her shade before the procedure. Everyone is different, I can only speak for myself and my mom...if you do not mind consistent tooth and gum pain and have a very high pain threshold, then it's a risk you could probably slightly benefit from..otherwise, I'd save the money and treat yourself in some other way.

On another note, the office was beautiful, very clean, and the staff was incredibly nice and helpful.

Good luck Zoomers

Paid $300.00

I had my Zoom procedure at the dentist in September 2011. It was supposed to cost nearly $700 but I talked them into paying only $300.00 I was told that my teeth were quite white to begin with (I can't remember what colour code they were). They are Zoom certified dentists and they did spend a long time covering up my gums, etc. I sat through the entire procedure which was either three or four repetitions... Sorry I can't remember, but it was the whole recommended time. I did not find the procedure itself bothersome. I didn't mind having my mouth pried open and I didn't find it painful. The dentist kept remarking that I was a "dream patient" for not complaining at all. I was concerned that they only seemed to be treating my front teeth and they were pretty much ignoring the molars. I know people barely see our molars, but still shouldn't our teeth match?

When they finished they told me the results were incredible. I didn't really notice any difference at all, to be honest. I thought it was just the lighting in their office, or that it would look better when I went home and had a larger mirror than their little hand-held one.

It did not look any different at home. None of my friends or family noticed anything. The tops of my teeth still looked yellowy up near my gums. My teeth looked "hollow" like they had stripped off the colour and made them see-through, rather than looking like there was a coating of clean white on top. The see-through look made my teeth look thin and slightly stained like you could see the nerves inside.

Within an hour or two the pain started. It was horrific. I have had my wisdom teeth out and had root canals, as well as 12 pelvic surgeries including a hysterectomy. I have even had 12 inches of my bowel removed before. This pain was definitely similar if not worse. I have left over narcotics at home because of my previous surgeries so I tried Percodan (Oxycodon) but it didn't touch the pain. This severe pain lasted about 24 hours and it was ALL of my teeth, even my molars. I had to take a day off work because of the pain. I couldn't drive while taking Percodan.

I called the dentist and complained. Within a few weeks they finally agreed to give me the "at home" trays for free, to use for two weeks. I was told to go back again to have the process re-done at their office if the trays don't work.

I have only used the trays once (last night --- it's December now) and I didn't see any difference at all but my teeth do sting again. It's not terrible pain but it's enough that I only had toast for breakfast instead of cereal (cold milk) or eggs (hot).

Is it worth going back? Has anyone ever had it re-done?
Should I re-do it or just ask for my money back?

My experience was horrible and I wish someone would have told me how painful this is. Before I read these reviews, I thought "Labour didn't feel this painful" SERIOUSLY and I have two children, first delivery was awful. Those of you that were just fine, good for you but don't comment on my feelings or anyone else's because you don't understand. I got through the first session fine, started to feel a couple of zings during the second. The person conducting this procedure talked me into doing the third because she said that she had to stop after the second and her results were not great. She said I should continue or I would regret it. I painfully endured the third, I had so much pain at this point that she immediatly put on the "relief gel" before even taking the after pictures. She told me that it would hurt for about two hours (nice to know after the fact) and she gave me an i b profen 800 mg, after I requested something. She was the only person I spoke with, I never even saw a doctor and no one asked if I would like a perscription for pain pills, they should have done this. I kept applying the gel and it started to make me sick to stamach due to swollowing so much of it. It really didn't help anyway. I have been crying and crying ever since I came home, the pain is horrendous. Had it done at 3 pm, it's not 10 pm and I have taken ib profen, hydrocodone and tylenol 3 - STILL IN PAIN. What a waste of money and a complete day. Yes my teeth are 4 shades whiter but this is so not worth it, especially if it won't last long as the previous comments have stated.

I bought my Zoom Whitening from Living Social for $149.95, regular $500.00. I had 3- 15 minute sessions today at 2 pm. I did not experience any pain at all so far. The dentist said I went 9 shades lighter but I did not verify that because they looked so nice that it didn't matter. I did brush with Fluoridex tooth paste for 2 weeks prior to treatment. This is suppose to help with sensitivity. I would recommend this treatment especially for $149.95.

I had my Zoom whitening done at 1:00 today. The entire process lasted until 4:15. My teeth look great. No pain what so ever. The tech took her time to make sure my gums were covered well which did take a little longer but well worth it. I had 4, 15 minute sessions. It is 6:30 and I still don't have pain. I am so happy I didn't chicken out after ready all the scary reviews. Very happy with the experience.

The worst thing I ever did. It started out well, the first two sessions went well, no pain. Then came the third session, I felt a sting then almost at the end of the third session my teeth felt shocks that went to the roots of my teeth. The dentist gave me a bell at the beginning of the treatment and said to ring it if there was a problem. I figured I could take the minor pain. Then the fourth session started, the thunderbolt pain started going through my teeth to the roots at an increased pace. The bolts of pain got worse and more constant, I rang the bell and the dentist came. My teeth got three shades lighter, but the pain continued all evening. I took three advils as the dr recommended, but the pain kept on going. I took an Vicodin and went to sleep. The next morning the pain went away. It was not worth th pain.

I had Zoom whitening done today and OMG, am I in some pain now!! I had 3 sessions, the first two were fine, but shooting pains began in the 3rd session. My teeth felt somewhat sensitive straight after, however I was not too worried. But as the hours have passed, the pain has increased a thousand times worse. It is much like having multiple tooth aches all at the same time. I have taken ponstan for pain relief.... no relief though. Cant imagine how I am supposed to sleep tonight. I am supposed to go back tomorrow for a final session.............. not sure I can do it!!! My teeth are much whiter, so the results are good. Was it worth it? How much do you like pain? I have had 5 babies with no pain relief and right now I would prefer to be in labour!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Don't do this unless you really love pain. It was more painful than child birth. You get deep startling zings through your mouth for a few hours, and then for about 6 more hours your teeth are throbbing in agony. It wasn't worth the pain and will keep you up all night.

My dentist has been begging to Zoom whiten my yellow, coffee stained teeth for two years. He did it for free (I've had a lot of other dental work in his office).

The procedure took about an hour, including all the preparation ahead of time. There were three 15 minute cycles with the light.

My teeth are quite stained by the fluorosis I developed as a child, as a result of fluoride drops. The end result, therefore, still included some areas which are more hypopigmented. I was able to compare the before/after results to a resin crown on one of my incisors and there was a definitely great deal of whitening on my natural teeth.

The biggest problem with this procedure is the pain.
The first cycle was fine.
But during the last 40 seconds of cycle #2, I experienced a deep shooting nerve pain in my upper left incisor. It resolved quickly once the light stopped, but it was intense.
During the third and final cycle, I experienced a few "zingers" affecting both upper and lower incisors and canines, each lasted no more than 20-30 seconds. But during the last 3 minutes My upper left incisor became extremely painful, and I had to terminate the session.

My procedure ended about 30 minutes ago and I've experienced a few 15 second bursts of pain again (different tooth each time). Some have been quite severe.

My yellow teeth didn't bother me - I did this more for my wife (and my dentist). Had I know just how painful these would be, I wouldn't have bothered with this procedure. But if you do care, and don't mind dealing with some post-procedure pain, Zoom does work well.

Just came out of the dentist's office and after reading these comments I had told them I was very unsure and was thinking of giving my voucher to someone else. I'm glad I didn't. I did all four full sessions with no problems and I have teeth/gums so sensitive I totally avoid ice cream. I honestly feel it was the technician that did such a good job covering my gums with the gel that I didn't feel a thing. I was worried about the 'heat' from the light but after I realized it wasn't going to get worse, I kind of zoned out for session three and four. Glad I did it, very happy with my results. Kind of shocked when I look in the mirror! It's 1 hour after and I feel some 'pings' shooting through my teeth but so far, nothing else. I prefer this over trying to do it at home. I got a voucher for $200 and regular price is $700 so I am really pleased.
