Don't do it! It is not worth the pain. I didn't know if my teeth were hurting bad or my gums were melting. Bad shooting pains for first full day.. You will need hydrocodone. Gums still hurt nd raw 5 days later...

It's now been 48 hours since I had the procedure done (two 20 minute sessions), I had a little bit of pain towards the end of the second 20 minute session which then lasted about 10 minutes after the procedure was done. I have had absolutely no pain since then. My gums have been sensitive when trying to brush my teeth, but nothing major. My teeth are definitely whiter, I wouldn't say the difference is amazing but they are definitely whiter, hopefully it lasts. I got a great deal on this thanks to Groupon, however had I paid full price I may have been disappointed. The hardest part for me was sticking to the "white diet" afterwards which eliminates almost everything I eat on a daily basis.

I just got the zoom whitening today and experienced shooting pain in my teeth and gums during the 15 minute intervals. I thought the pain would be gone after the treatment but it did not go away and has even gotten worse. This is with advil!

I got a groupon for the ZOOM treatment and if I had paid the full price, I would have been really disappointed. My dentist and his assistant did a great job explaining everything. The procedure was a bit uncomfortable but nothing major. My teeth didn't hurt during the actual procedure but they got really annoying as the day progressed. I could hardly stand myself by the end of the day. I took some aspirin and fell asleep. Luckily when I woke up the pain was gone. My family commented that my teeth looked whiter but they weren't much whiter than they were before. I think I only got 2 shades whiter. It's only been 3 days since my procedure and it doesn't even look like I got my teeth whitened. They aren't as yellow as they were before but they don't look white to me either. I'm a soda drinker and I have been taking really good care of my teeth, I even cut back the soda and I've been brushing my teeth thoroughly after every meal. I don't think it's something I would pay for again because IMO, it's not really worth the expense.

Paid $169.00

I purchased Zoom from Groupon for $169. After purchasing I looked at reviews online and was horrified! Everyone seemed to have lots and lots of pain and I wasn't sure if I should go through with it because I do have some sensitive teeth. I decided to go to the consolation and expressed my concern to the dentist about the pain. He assured me it was a painless procedure. He said the people complaining of pain probably did not go to a dentist certified in Zoom. He said pain occurs when the person performing the Zoom does not carefully cover your lips and gums to make sure the gel only touches the teeth. He said sometimes you may experience 'zingers' up to 24 hours after the treatment but it should not be an unbearable pain and some don't get any at all. I wasn't exactly sure what a zinger was but from the reviews I have read I understand it to be that pain you get when you hold ice cold water in your mouth if you have sensitive teeth. He seemed legit and confident in his work so I scheduled an appointment.

My appointment was this morning at 9am. I took pain relievers while on the way just in case. They put vitamin E oil on my lips and the protectant on my gums. I did three session of fifteen minutes each. The put the Zoom gel on your teeth and then put a special light on it while you hold your mouth open with the help on some kind of tray they put in your mouth. I experienced no pain or zingers at all. The most uncomfortable part was having my mouth open that long, it does make your jaws kind of sore. I also purchased the trays for an additional $75 and they say I probably won't need the trays for another six months or so. I'm very pleased with my results and I can definitely see the difference. I'm not sure how many shades lighter I got but as soon as I looked into the mirror I was happy!

It has been about an hour now since I finished and I have had two quick little stings but nothing like when I eat ice cream. I noticed it but I didn't wince or anything and it only lasted a couple seconds I would recommend Zoom especially if you can find a hood price.

A piece of advice I would give would be to Make sure the dentist performing your Zoom is patient and trained in Zoom. I think the pele who had had these terrible pains probably had a dentist that didn't cover the gums well.

I am so glad that i did not read these reviews before i had zoom otherwise i would of been terrified to go. So off i went very nieve just thinking about having nice white teeth.
I sat in the chair the first 15minute session went by fine no pain or anything then on the 2nd 15minute session 4minutes in an the sharpest agonising pain travelled through one of my bottom teeth (let me tell you i wasnt expecting that at all) then as the session continued a few more happened. I could not complete the third session.... when it was all over i was still receiving sharp zings through my teeth. But i have to admit the results were fantastic... if your going to have this done beware and be brave it will be worth it in the end.

I got zoom done about 4 years ago right after I got my braces off and I remember my teeth and gums were in so much pain for 2 days after. But the fact is that it really works. My teeth were really white after a 1 hour treatment :) All the pain is worth it.

I got my teeth whitened yesterday at my dentist for free! It was definitely worth it. I felt no pain at all. The only part that was annoying was having all the stuff put in my mouth and having to sit for so long. But I got a nice nap while I was there. The lady said my teeth were only 1 shade whiter but they look wayyy whiter to me and my family. Only one complaint, close to my gums my teeth are not as white and if I look up close at them it is suuuper irritating. But it was free, so I am not complaining :)

It's very, very effective. My teeth were pretty damn yellow, and now they're beautiful.

The pain is annoying, but don't make the mistake of thinking ALL of your teeth are going to be in constant, blinding pain throughout the procedure. They won't.

The pain will happen randomly to a few teeth at a time and move from tooth to tooth in a random order. The pain lasts about 1-5 seconds. This is why it's tolerable. If it were constant I would have given up after the first 15min treatment.

It sucks, but if you stick it out for the full 4 x 15min treatments, you will have amazing looking teeth!

Just had Zoom done this afternoon. Unless you REALLY need white teeth NOW, there's less painful ways I think, but i'm not a dentist. It did whiten my teeth really well, and I'm a heavy coffee drinker. My wife got us a deal on Groupon for her and I to get it done ($120 for both of us). I thout it was a show up, shine a light on your teeth for a few minutes and boom, you're out of there. It's my fault, I should have done my homework before going in.

This is a dental procedure and expect to be there at least 2 hours. The first hour is just spent prepping your mouth. Then 3-4 15 minute sessions under the light. I made it through the first two just fine, then about halfway through the third it hit all my teeth like a ton of bricks. I pulled the light off.

For the next 4-5 hours it felt fine, just a couple "zingers" now and then, a cute word for temporary paralyzing tooth pain (2-5) seconds, Just like getting tazed if you've ever had the priviledge.

It's now been 8 hours since i've left. No zingers. My teeth are just kind of sore. I tried the Crest white strips about a year ago for many days and it feels like that.

The system works, it does whiten teeth really well. The tradeoff is pretty discomforting tooth pain for the next day or two.

This was the single most painful thing I've ever been through. I made it through the first two 15 minute lights with little to no pain but couldn't make it through the third. The pain is indescribable. My teeth are much whiter but its not worth the pain. I wish they would have numbed me or put me to sleep til the next day. It hurts to smile so I can't show off my new $400 purchase. I'm scared to eat, scared to drink. I wouldn't recommend this if the the pain was half of what it is, half as much pain is still way more than anybody should ever have to go through. I thought she might be torturing me for information and if I knew what she wanted to know I would've told her. Ask your dentist for another kind of whitening cause this is not worth the pIn

I was extremely disappointed! After spending $500 dollars my teeth only lightened by one shade-not the 6-8 shades the manufacturer claims. I will not have zoom again.

I sat in the chair for 2 twenty minute sessions. I had no sensitivity. I was sent home with 1 syringe of zoom at home whitening that is supposed to stay on your teeth for 4-6 hours. Who has time for that? I would NOT recommend this product to anyone!

I had Zoom whitening done today at my dentist as a 'treat' as I had jaw surgery to correct my underbite in June and have just had my braces off. It's the most painful thing I've ever felt and I'd rather have both my jaws broken again that have Zoom whitening!
I thought I was being a wimp but having read reviews I know it's not just me. My dentist never warned me it could hurt and since my surgery, my teeth are still super sensitive anyway as the nerves are still healing. Thankfully I have some seriously strong pain killers which I've taken...but they don't work! I haven't dared to eat anything since my treatment and I've only drunk luke warm water.
My teeth do look much whiter so I'm sure it'll be worth it. I also have night white kit which I'm using with my retainers to carry on the whitening process. I just hope it's all worth it in the end. I've paid £600 for the zoom and home whitening kits in total which is a lot of money if the results don't last.
I don't think it matters how tough you are, this pain is indescribable. It goes away for a while and then hits you without warning. And painkillers don't work but at least mine make me so drowsy I'll just sleep!
It's costly, but it works. It's painful, but it's istant results (I had x3 15 minutes in one session).
It HURTS so much I cried and felt like ripping everything out of my mouth. And I've got a very high pain threshold. If you can't handle pain, then don't have Zoom whitening.

I just had Zoom done today at 3pm. I had little pain even into early evening. I just woke up at 1am and I am experiencing high intensity pain in most of my teeth. Ibuprofen isn't working and I don't have other options. Yes, my teeth are much whiter but at this point I wonder if this pain will ever subside! HELP!

I bought the zoom treatment on Groupon for $129. Reg price was $500. Then I read the posts on here. I was scared to try it because of all the reviews about shooting pain, etc. When I went to the dentist, she said apart from some semsitivity afterwards, there have been no complaints. She said the person packing the teeth had to take their time and cover every part not being bleached. Went through the first 15 min...so far so good. The next 15 minutes...still good, and then the last 15 minute session...NO PAIN. They even do a flouride treatment afterwards to help with sensitivity. It has been 4 hrs since my treatment. NO PAIN. And, my teeth are so white, I cant believe it. GUess I was one of the lucky ones.

Ok so I got my teeth zoomed yesterday at 5pm I actually read all of the above comments just to see how people reacted to and to see what I was in for..
After the dentist talked with me about a few things we began, the zoom takes place in 3 stages..each stage they stop and then apply more gel, each stage lasts about half an hour.. after 2 stages went by id literally fell asleep 3 times and woke back up I remember thinking what the hell were those people taking about that said it hurt?? ....THEN we got to stage 3 my last half an hour..I had literally 5 minutes to go when a thunderbolt from the heavens attacked my lower tooth instantly making me wince in pain..then another thunderbolt hit the top tooth.. now I can take pain, I was an amatuer boxer and I compete in ju jitsu but im telling you now the people above are correct..if you have ANY small chips or holes in yourt teeth u may not see...the Zoom gel finds its way in and give ur theeth nerve ending pains that are VERY shocking and painful..my mate and I got in done and on the way home talkin wered both just go silent holding our mouths in severe pain... Pain killers DO NOT work on this type of pain, so if u cant take pain to well or have sensitive teeth, or ur a girl (not being sexist) just be prepared cos for the next 2 days ur teeth are going to be horrible... HOWEVER my teeth are whiter they went from an A1 to a B1 and Ive got a home whitning kit they came with my deal they will make them even whiter..so yes it was worth it...would I go through that again? FUCK NO! before u have this done...grab a COLD glass of water drink it but hold the cold water in ur mouth to see if any of ur teeth become sensitive...if they do you can bet ur ass the zooms going to attack those teeth nerves with a vengance...good luck! ps. however if u have no small holes in ur teeth..u may have no pain what so ever..

I had my first zoom session 1week ago, and I love the results. My dentist only did 2 15min applications the first session, and i will be having my next visit next week for another 2 applications. My results after the first session are great and my teeth instantly got 3 shades lighter. The pain on the other hand was not so great. I literally wanted to cry and was very close to just making her turn it off. I felt my gums burning and throbbing (which turns out i did get a very tiny burn on my gums) nothing bad or noticable but the pain was brutal. Afterwards, I got another procedure done to file my two front teeth, during which i kept getting those horrible zings. My dentist gave me a pain killer sold in mexico called Dolac, which worked wonders, and after 20min I had no pain at all, and the "zings" stopped completely. For my next session I will be prepared and take some Dolac before and after the applications. :D

Had this procedure yesterday. I consider myself to have a high pain threshold. Played Rugby for nearlya full game with a broken tooth. Dentist normallys complements me during visits. But this process was very painful. I do not have sensative teeth, cold drinks, ice cream, hoit drinks always OK. Set up was fine. My favourite denatl assistant carried it out. She is great very caring and proffessional. But I could only take the first 15 mins. Best descriptions so far are its like biting aluminium paper..........constantely! Denatl assistant was very worried. Got Dentist to have a look. they cancelled charges. They are a great pair. Pain lasted until I went tos leep, took anvila nd tynol, no real help. So happy that pain has gone this morning. On the plus side teeth are three shades lighter, and my wife really liked. But I really did not like the pain. i am so relieved that it ahs gone. For that reason i cannot reccoemnd.

Might have tray treatmnet next week, but honestely concerned as to whether it will be as painful or casue permant damage.

Had the zoom in office treatment a few weeks ago in dentist's office. Was there for two hours, but did not undergo the treatment for that long. Had to remain still for about an hour with the light on my teeth for four 15 minute intervals. They made trays for my teeth that I had to go home with to follow up over the next few weeks with, to continute the bleaching. The white stuff they "bake" on your teeth DO make them whiter the first few days, but then tea drinking and eating berries, they just go back to the shade I was when I went in. However, I have not used the at home bleaching trays as whitestrips are just that much more convenient (but haven't used those either). THAT'S WHY I went for the in office treatment in the first place. Thought it would be more intense and quick. Would NEVER recommend this; too $$ for what you get. Stick to at home white strips and save yourself the $300!

I had the Zoom proceedure carried out yesterday evening. Although not the most pleasant experience, the pain during the proceedure was minimal. The most uncomfortable part for me was sitting still for 45 minutes!

Although my dentist was ok, he lacked attentiveness and gave me the impression that he'd done this so many times before that he had forgotten that this was most probably an alien experience to his patients. I would have felt more at ease had he talked me through what he was doing as he was doing it but it wasn't the worst thing ever. The proccess begun with a mouthguard being fitted to hold my mouth open. This wasn't as uncomfortable as it looks but I kept getting worried that the bleaching gel was going to fall down my throat! Alongside the mouthguard, gauze it stuffed into your upper and lower lips and into your cheeks to protect the gums, and a dental dam is formed around your teeth and gums presumably to stop the solution touching your gums at all (apparently this can cause burning and ulcers)

One this was all in place, the dentist applied the solution to my teeth and the Zoom lamp was placed over my mouth for 15 minutes. After the 15 minutes, the solution is removed and the process is repeated, three times in all. The first and second sessions were fine (I was watching The Great British Bake Off on the TV screen which was actually very good!), the only thing to note being that the lamp generated quite a bit of heat but other than that nothing to write home about. Towards the end of the third session I got a couple of shooting pains through my nerves along the gums of my bottom front teeth. They were unpleasant but not excruciating.

My teeth normally are about a 3 out of 10 in terms of sensitivity (10 being the worst) so although I'd read the reviews before I went for the proceedure I wasn't too worried because the general consensus seemed to be that those who had experienced severe pain were very sensitive already. The pain was worst for the first 12 hours after I'd had it done. The shooting nerve pains became more intense, more frequent and longer lasting in the first couple of hours and my teeth just felt very sore in general. I found it helped to keep my mouth closed and not talk (my housemate was delighted!).

I had taken two Neurofen Plus (Ibruprofen + Codeine) before I had the proceedure and took two more two hours later but the pain is still very much there. I woke up in the night and had to take two more but then when I woke up this morning the pain was much better. There is still a dull pain in my lower teeth and gums but no more shooting pains.

The result has been good, I'm pleased with it, I think I went from a C1 to a B3 with is 3 shades lighter so overall I do feel it was worth it. I bought the take home kit as well so have had the trays made to fit my teeth and have a syringe full of the solution that I've been told to use for 2-4 hours every night for the next two weeks or so or until I achieve the colour I'm happy with.

At the end of the day it's a cosmetic proceedure and you wouldn't expect Botox or a boob job to be painless! No pain no gain! Expensive and a bit sore but nothing too long lasting and worth it for the result.

Good Luck!

Had Zoom done today at 2:30. It's almost 8 pm. Four over the counter pain meds and 1 prescribed pill later, it still consistently hurts. Mind you, I've had a dental implant with only local anesthetic, a tooth shaving with no anesthetic at all, and finished Invisalign braces, & extractions, so I'm no wuss. This really does hurt. Have no gum issues either. The "zing" they tell you to expect hurt me by round 2 a little, 3 not so bad since I knew what to expect, but it hurt new places then, and 4 was so so. By the end, you will be more than ready to be done. The relief gel is no relief. Got my zoom gel whitener and relief packet as part of the deal. Feel that's fair for the 300, but this was a special for my cosmetic dentist. He's normally 450. Service was great and packet of gel a nice bonus. Am three shades lighter and hoping to see the whitening get even better in the next day or so. Stained my teeth by drinking coffee/tea with Invisalign and in general living to mid 30s. Not super yellow but certainly needed the whitening. Happy with color improvement but hate the pain.

I just had my teeth done with zoom about three hours ago. I took 2 ibuprofen before the procedure and two after. I went through all 4 sessions with very little pain or discomfort until the final session. I experienced a few zings, but since the dentist had warned me about it, I wasn't too surprised. I thought I had sensitive teeth, as the whitening strips made me teeth ache after I used them. However, this procedure was better.

I'm feeling some shooting pains now. They come and go every few minutes and only last for a few seconds. I've taken another ibuprofen and will probably take another one in half an hour. It's moderately painful, but the results were amazing. My teeth were rated about a C1 before the procedure (slightly yellow) and are now gleaming white, even whiter than the whitest sample shade at the dentist's office.

If you think you can handle the pain, it is definitely worth it. It works better than any other whitening product that I've tried: toothpastes, whitening gels, and strips.

I had the Zoom pro reduce done at 7am this morning. My teeth aren't terribly bad, just slightly yellow from the occasional cigarette and daily coffee. The first two rounds were fine with little to no pain- the only time it became uncomfortable for the first 2 rounds was when the applied the product before placing me under the light.

During the third round I experienced a few 'zings' but nothing terrible. I opted out of the fourth session because I could feel the sensitivity start as soon as the hygenist removed the product. IMMEDIATELY after removing the bleach and gauze I started feeling the discomfort. I used the relief gel and took ibuprofen to no avail.

It is now 4pm and I went home from work due to the throbbing and pain. I can handle pain but this is crazy. My dentist perscribed me Vicodin and has called several times to check up- I am his first patient to experience this. The pain continues even with the Vicodin. Yes, my teeth are whiter but I would never do this again!

My teeth were a light yellow, not bad but not white either.
I have attached pics taken before and after. Yes I know I need braces but I just want you to see real pics, not fake, bleached 100 times first pics. Small pics are the before.
I am 24yrs and can handle pain like anyone else I guess, Im no hero :)

I had my teeth whitened in Chalong, Phuket Thailand - Dente Smile.

They were very kind and professional, the were very carful with my gums and I have absolutly no pain/burning on my gums or lips.

My teeth however are another story. During the session, I got some pain in my fang teeth but I continued for the whole 3 - 15mths sessions. After leaving the dentist I felt shooting pain up my teeth into my gums. It felt like I had chewed on Aluminium metal paper or a shooting pain from eating a mars bar or something. I had the appointment at 12:00 its now 16:08 and when the pain comes it almost drops me, its pretty bad but I have found that if I dont open my mouth the 'Zingers' decrease in intensity (From 6seconds to say 2) and they arent as frequant. (Im still in pain now)

My teeth have gone around 3 shades whiter but still have a light yellowish tinge, but they're not like 'Wow look at her white teeth' and I wasnt given a take home kit like these lucky ppl. Apparently they will lighten over the next 2 day. So heres hoping!

I honestly wouldnt do this again. Its scary and they fill your mouth with cotton balls so your mouth gets so dry that you cannot swallow and feel like your choaking. Not nice.

Everyone is different, I say give it a go and see for yourself. You might be one of those ppl that get super white teeth and no pain :)
And the pain in only here for one day (I hope)

Good Luck :*

I had my teeth whitened by the Zoom! in-office teeth whitening system about 4 hours ago. I was REALLY worried about what the results might be and I was also REALLY worried about the pain because I am a total whimp when it comes to pain. I agree with what many other reviewers wrote about there no really being any pain if you go into this procedure without having had tooth sensitivity issues in the past. I have never had sensitive teeth and I easily endured all 4, 15-minute sessions of the Zoom! treatment. Only during the last 4 minutes of the very last session did I experience any zingers. My teeth were not too tinted prior to the treatment but they were certainly not white but after, I saw immediate results! I am thrilled with the results. My teeth look youthfully white but not fake-white, which I love. As of right now, I would do this again. Afterward, the pain was/is slightly worse. I took an 800mg Ibuprofen before and after the procedure and my teeth are only slightly sensitive (I'd say about a 4-5 out of 10, with 10 being unbearable. Of course, the 1 second zingers every once in a while are like a 7-8.). I recommend that you only do this procedure if you do not have sensitive teeth because I could imagine this would be much more painful.

I was really happy with the results. I did all four rounds and no pain at all. I even have some holes in my teeth! I would definatley do this again. My teeth went up 4 shades and they said they should go up a couple more in the next 72 hours. Feelin a little dull pain now, but other than that, its going well.

I had this done at 10 this morning. The first 2 sessions were not bad. A few zings here and there but it was bearable. For my 3rd one they put the gel on and when they turned on the light it wouldnt come on. They spent 15 minutes trying to fix it. The gel was really sensitive on my teeth to the point of crying. When they finally got it fixed and he asked if I wanted to continue I decided to go ahead with it because it's so expensive. Afterwards they have been super sensitive and a lot of zings. The dentist did give me the whitening trays but never explained how to use it. My teeth did not change color that much. It was not worth it. The pain and cost is just to much.

Had zoom done about almost 4 hours ago. I'd say i didnt get the pain that i see in most of these comments. my 1st 15min session i felt a little burning on the gums above my front teeth. After that session was done i told the dentist my gum was burning. The dentist then put more gel on the gums. After that i went through all my sessions with no pain or any zings. after all 4 sessions was done my teeth whiter by about 3 shades id say. After the procedure i dont feel any after affects only sometimes when the air touches my teeth other then that no pain really. Honestly i'd say it was worth the $200 i paid because i also get a takehome bleaching kit also. but if you are paying the regular price $500-$600 id say HELL NO ITS NOT WORTH THAT. most id recommend paying for this treatment is $200- $300 because the results arent amazing. their just "ok"

Well I had the teeth whitening done April 19 see Helen, Canada and now I have permanent damage to my teeth. I have since tried to whiten them with over the counter products and I can't keep them on at all without the zingers coming on full force. I rip them out straight away. I have to use sensitive toothpaste now and watch what I eat. I have some of the gum on my left hand bottom teeth receeded and I have to eat on my right side. I will be going to the dentist to find out what can me done. My other frustration is the lack of internet search to find the company to let them know of my ordeal. This can't be right and I am upset about it. I have read many reviews and it seems to be 75 pain to 25 no pain patients. I wish I was in the 25% percentile. Live and Learn and pass the message on. My teeth were white initially, but back to where they were within a month or two. So my Rating has changed to how it works.

In July, 2011, I decided to have my teeth whitened. My teeth were not that bad, however I did have some minor discoloration. I then decided on the Zoom procedure. I was given 3 - 15 minute sessions and did not experience any sensitivity or issues with pain. My problem is, the product just did not work. My teeth were exactly the same color they were prior to the Zoom procedure. Needless to say I was very disappointed.

Zoom whitening is option my dentist offers and I decided to go through with it. I'll be honest I did not do too much research (which I now regret) and I did not ask enough questions about the procedure. Going in I thought it was going to be quick; it is 4 15 minute sessions and about a 90 minute procedure. I read through the 4 page packet you have to sign before the procedure starts and it warns of sensitivity and a few other side effects but I figured they would be minimal. I did not even make it past the 2nd round of 15 minute treatments. My mouth was on fire and towards the last few minutes of each it felt like a car battery was attached to my teeth. Now 2 days later, my teeth are still fairly sensitive and generally hurt like I had multiple root canals. I do not plan on having the rest of the procedure done as it is not worth the pain and uncomfortable feeling you have for days on end. Make sure you are prepared if you decide to use this procedure.

oh my god! the zoom teeth whitening was the most painfull thing ive ever been through in my whole entire life! and i am pretty old! i would not recomend it to anyone who is thinking about getting it done! another point being that my gums had started to bleed 1 day after enduring the zoom teeth whitening, not to mention the olsers. i also did not like how i was sitting in the same position for over 4 sessions at 15 minutes each with sharp pains in the root of my teeth. the really distressing thing is that my teeth didnt even whiten, i could not believe it. i reccomend that no one gets it done, as it is a rip off and does not even work

I had the Zoom procedure about 2:00 pm yesterday, cost $375.00, but also includes free life-time, whitening gel and trays as long as I continue to receive preventitive cleanings, which I do every 6 months.
I had three and one-half sessions, lasting 15 minutes each. The Zoom light was used during all the sessions. I had to stop the procedure half-way during the fourth, 15-minute session, due to so many zingers. They were going off all over my lower, front teeth. I DO NOT have very sensitive teeth, can drink ice water, hot beverages without any problems. Didn't feel any zingers until one large zinger during the second session, then more zingers started during the last of the third session. I decided to continue to a fourth session, with only the gel being used on the top teeth, but the zingers continued on the bottom teeth, so I called it quits. Glad I did! They were not terribly unbearable, but did feel like a nasty nerve root pain. Just too many of them! My teeth did whiten almost 3 shades lighter.
Before I considered the Zoom, I did talk to one of the dental assistants, she had the procedure before, and she gave the info I was looking for. She explained that I could have Zingers, but I could stop at any time I wanted too. My dentist is really good about wanting his patient's to be comfortable and pain free. The assistant told me I would be prescribed pain meds, and that my dentist usually prescribes Toradol, after the Zoom procedue. I took a Toradol before leaving the office and was given the kit with more whitening gel and relief gel. The relief gel can be used every 20 minutes and I used it for about 1 hour. It works to calm the zingers down, but I am soooo glad I had a strong pain reliever also.
The zingers continued through the evening and into the night, but with less frequency and less intensity. The Toradol really worked well and when, at one point, a zinger woke me up at night, I just took another tablet and slept great after that. I did learn that the more you talk, or open your mouth and expose the teeth to air, would make the zingers worse, so try not to talk as much if you are having zingers.
Woke up this morning, NO zingers at all, just a bit of soreness around a couple of teeth. NO red, irritated gums either. My gums were really protected well. I did take another Toradol though, just in case. Have been able to eat and drink without any problem. This is a good product, but if you can't tolerate pain very well, I would be cautious, at least don't continue the procedure if you start having the sensitivity, because it gets a bit worse later. I read that everyone doesn't have the zingers. I did also use Sensodyne, for a few days, before having the Zoom, or I probably would not have made it until the fourth session.... I recommend this, but with caution! Teeth look nice, and you won't have as much discomfort, if the procedure is done by a caring, thoughtful dentist and dental team.

I like many read the horror stories on this review site and was absolutely terrified to the point of almost cancelling my appointment. I felt as if I was walking to my death this morning.
Once in I voiced my worries of pain and burning and she told me that all areas would be covered and should I feel any pain I could stop.
The mouth guard they put in your mouth isn't half as uncomfortable as it looks. In fact, I was more uncomfortable having to sit in the same position for 15 minute periods.
I was covered well and during the first 15 minute session I felt no zingers, only burning on my gums. The second session was probably the worst with quite a few zingers. The third session didn't give me too many.
I'd describe the feeling as small electric shocks along your gums. To the people who said this pain is similar if not worse to child birth: either you are over exaggerating or you have bad teeth/a bad dentist. My teeth are highly sensitive and I coped with the pain fine. I'd consider myself a wimp too.
I left the surgery with a couple of things to ease the sensitivity, took two pain killers and slept for a couple of hours. Apart from sensitivity and the occasional zinger (I've not had one for at least an hour) my teeth are fine. The procedure was carried out at 9am and it's 4.30pm now and I feel fine.

I'm not sure if I was lucky or if this exhaustive list of people who have bad experiences just had a bad dentist.
I suffer from low self-confidence and so I think this process is definitely worth a bit of pain. If you are unsure whether or not to proceed with this, at least voice your worries to your dentist. If the pain is too much for you to bear you can always stop.
As far as the colour is concerned, I'm fairly happy. It seems that it it is more noticeable from a distance than close up. Either way I had my teeth whitening for myself and not necessarily for others so I'm happy.

The process was advertised as 'relaxing' and I had not anticipated the discomfort of the process. I found that my teeth were very sensertive to the chemicals and I had lots of nerv pain, and my mouth and throat felt as if they were burning. It is now ten hours sice i had it done and it stll is painful and I think my voice is going. My teeth do look a couple of shades lighter. I was not given anything to take home to use or advise I should go anuyhing befor, I patient leaflet would br goog,

I was very scared going in, scared of the pain. I used the flouride toothpaste for a week before the procedure so I thought that would help with the sensitivity. I was sensitive even using store bought white strips so I was very hesitant. The actual procedure was painfree, a few very mild zingers in round 3 and 4 but over all it was great. My gums were completely unaffected so I was happy about that. Later that night, OMG, the pain hit. I couldn't escape it, I used ibuprofen and even took vicadin to hopefully help knock me out. Nothing helped at all. The procedure was done at about 4 pm, the pain hit around 6:30 and wasn't bearable until 3am. The next day they were sensitive but not too bad at all. I even used the take home tray on the third day.

I would do it again because the results were awesome, about 5-6 shades lighter on their scale. I see a noticeable difference and that is what matters most. If I do it again I may seriously ask to wait in the office for two hours after the procedure so they can give me novocaine for the pain.

I had mine done by an attentive dentist. The prodecure was almost painless.
Its now 48 hours and there has not been much pain thank god. I did not read these reviews so went in my eyes closed and mouth open. Good job too because some of the reviews would have put me off. On the whole I am happy had my teeth whitened 2 shades whiter, my first such foray at the age of 60. I have stopped smoking and gone down on coffee so should hopefully maintain the whiteness. Mine were really really yelowish when I went in so I am pleased with the result. Its early days I may have to update my review later though. My dentish advised home kit for use every 3 months but I have to pay another $250 for the kit. Keep my fingers crossed.

OMG why didn't I read these reviews before? :( I must say that while I experienced no pain during the procedure but just a little discomfort after the things were removed from my gum, I did feel a few zings pains occasionally a total of probably 3 zings since I got the procedure done at 10:30am..Although I was told my gums would be a little sensitive I never though I'd experience this type of pain!! It feels as if u accidentally had bitten aluminum paper, it is very uncomfortable. I've taken over 500 mg of Ibuprofen and tylenol and nothing seems to help ease the pain..Although I read that by tomorrow I should be fine I really hope so because I don't think I can take any more pain hehe..My teeth do look whiter but only 2 shades and in order to purchase the trays I will have to pay like $300 more, I think I may choose the trays instead..

Got this done today at 12:30, its now 9 and i have had no pain during or after the procedure. Mine lightened three shades and dentist said they will lighten 1 to 2 more shades with the take home kit. I think it's very important that a skilled professional does this...I can see how it could be painful if done wrong. Overall, I would totally recommend.

round 1 and round 2 went fine. actually felt hardly nothing. by round 3....which was for me only an application of stronger gel and no light...i started getting zings almost right away. quick and fast. finished the treatment and the follow up floride treatment for 5 minutes. probably had 5-10 zings during that time. they are very painful! I am still feeling them and they come out of nowhere. I did take advil and tylenol. My teeth....oh....well they showed me some samples of the new shade of white and that showed a change but I really do not notice it in the mirror yet. I have used the crest white strips at home in the past and although I do have the trays they recommended I buy too, I am not sure I want anything more to do with that or zoom. at this point, for me, the pain is not worth it and the top level of crest strips worked as well with NO pain. they say these zings will go away within 24 hrs. No thanks. I won't do it again! I was hoping for a long lasting and whiter teeth and perhaps I will feel differently once the pain is gone and perhaps my teeth brighten up more in a few days....but I can't recommend it to anyone I know.

I had zoom done this morning and I have to say after reading all the reviews I was terrified of going in today. I went in at 8:30am and had a full cleaning and my dentist checked out my teeth. The first two sessions under the light were pretty easy although I did have an occasional "zing" but not unbearable. The last few minutes of the last session I could feel something hurting on my upper gum and. I did get a little white spot which already went away and has not been painful. I also had a couple zings the last few minutes. When I left the office I did have probably. 4 or 5 zings but they only last a second and were not unbearable for me. I took 2 ibuprofen when I got home and used the special fluoride tooth paste they gave me. I was able to eat with some mild sensitivity and took a nap without any problem. My teeth definitely feel sensitive but I am not in any pain. I have been trying not to talk much since i heard it can make you get more of the zings. My teeth are definitely whiter and i am pleased with the results. My teeth were pretty yellow so I feel it was worth a few hours of discomfort. I will be working tomorrow and hopefully my mouth will feel even better tomorrow. I guess everyones experience will be different but I was surprised when they told me I even have a few cavities and had a pretty intense cleaning beforehand that it wasnt more painful. Overall I am satisfied!

After reading the reviews I was tempted to cancel and just live with my off colored teeth but I decided it couldn't be THAT bad could it? I arrived and it took awhile to get me hooked up with all the safety stuff, I took pictures, it wasn't pretty, I looked like some sort of insane experiment by a maniac. The dental tech got me all ready and the dentist came in to make sure I was good to go, I still had some holes by my gums they needed to seal or I would have had white gums but after that I was good to go. She pulled the light over and I thought well this is it here comes the pain... when the 3 minute alarm went off on my first round i thought hmm I am doing pretty good, then it hit me a "zinger" shot across the top of my bottom teeth and down through my upper canine, NOOOOOOOOO not in round one! she asked if I wanted to continue and I said yes, round 2, a little zings here and there but nothing earth shattering, do I want round three? oh sure I have come this far, I really think I was able to get myself into a Zen-like place, I know that sounds stupid but I kept telling myself over and over with deep breaths and closed eyes that I wasn't have my leg amputated like my mom did in January, I wasn't in a bad car accident laying in a hospital room, wasn't a burn patient, wasn't a soldier, wasn't anything but whitening my teeth because I WANTED to and I really think it worked for me, I felt very minor zingers and lasted the full 4 cycles, the rest of the day I would get the zingers from time to time but nothing constant, and very quick, YES they did take my breath away, BUT I was able to eat, drink with no straw and sleep easily, woke up this morning and my teeth look sooooo nice. I was a bit skeptical and disappointed because I thought I had streaks, but they explained to me that my teeth were dehydrated and in the coming days they will look much better and here on day one they really do. I am not telling anyone that had pain that they are making it up, we are all different, but I would recommend Zoom and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

It ruined my gums! My dentist advised that while it can cause ones gums to receed he had never, nor had any of his colleagues ever seen this happen. Lucky me.

I sat there for an hour and towards the end thier was some discomfort/sensitivity but nothing I couldnt handle. When I got to see the results I was dissapointed. My white teeth were a bit whiter but it didnt shift the yellow from the incisors.

Within two weeks the gum line of my top front teeth, the most noticible ones, had receeded a little making me look like I have really long front teeth. I now am really self concious of my smile so its quite literally the worst money I ever spent
