I just had the zoom whitening done this past Saturday. I went in to my dentist around 8am and was out by around 9:50 am. The prep time took the longest, which was about 30 mins. After this, I began the sessions. I didn't experience any discomfort in my teeth during the 1st or 2nd session (but it could be because ive been brushing with sensative tooth past for the past 4 years as I already have sensative teeth), the only thing that was a little uncomfortable was my lips felt a bit tingly and weird during the procedure, but later my dentist said it was probably from the heat from the light and the akwardness of the clamp holding my mouth open- they said I had nothing to worry about with the feeling I was experiencing in my lips because they were 100% covered and could not be exposed to the light. After this, I continued to my 3rd session and got my first 'zinger' during the last 2 minutes of my last session. Im sure everyone who has had this procedure will agree the zingers are quite painful, but i would say its more annoying than anything else. So overall, the procedure for me wasn't uncomfortable with the exception of one zinger in the last 2 minutes. The REAL sensativity began as soon as the procedure was done and the dentist removed everything from my mouth. The first few hours after my the procdeure my teeth were okay but I got maybe 3 or 4 zingers an hour. However after the first 5 hours, my bottom teeth were peremently hurting me and were extremely sensative the entire rest of the day. I felt like i couldn't open my mouth in fear that the air entering my mouth would aggreviate the sensativity (which it did if I did open my mouth talking for too long). Also, similar to what other people have said here, i did experience some irritation in a small section of my bottom gums and underneath my top lip- im assuming this is from some of the whitening solution getting on it. It stung a bit for a few days if anything touched it but it went away about 4 days later.

Needless to say, it was not the best day, and affected my normal functions for the rest of the day ALOT MORE than i thought it would. However, I woke up the next morning and I was fine. I found that taking advil and tylenol does not help at all for this kind of pain/sensativity you experience during or after the whitening.

Overall, the zoom did quite a good job whitening my teeth. I think its more noticeable when your a few steps away from me and I smile (they look EXTREMLEY WHITE) as oppose to coming right up to my mouth and looking at them (I have quite a few calcium spots on my teeth so the zoom couldn't give me an even tone of white, so it looks like a few different shades when you look at my teeth really close up- but any whitening system wouldnt have been able to even it out). I dont think id ever do it again due to the extreme discomfort i felt the whole day. However, I think the key thing to remember is that even though you will feel some sort of discomfort during the treatment or after, it is DEFINATELY bearable - its more uncomfortable and annoying than 'painful' .

I got Zoom done today about 6 hours ago and the pain is so incredibly bad. I just got done using the relief gel and taking Asprin and yet the pain is still excruciating. There was mild pain throughout the entire procedure but by session 4 I was done and had to stop them. I love the way my teeth look, but if I could I would take it back. DO NOT GET THIS DONE! OUCH!

I strongly agree with Jamison, TN July 14, 2010. Don't bother and don't find out for yourself. It is excruciating afterwards. Minimal results, lots of missed spots, way too much money. Afterwards, you still don't have what you want. But the worse part of all is the constant throbbing, severe stabbing and shooting pains to your nerves, so bad I can't talk, eat, or do anything except lay down. Cost $325 and even sitting in the chair parts of my gums burned. Super uncomfortable experience getting the Zoom. Eat fast and do everything else afterwards, cause once the sharp pain starts, it never ends. You need to knock yourself out in bed. It never stops. I has been 14 hours now since I zoomed. Forget about talking to anyone. I need more narcotics now.

I just had ZOOM done yesterday and unfortunately have to say it is NOT worth it! The pain AFTERWARDS is absolutely excruciating and lasted about 16hrs. I have a high pain tolerance (made it through all 4 of the 15 mins sessions and didn't get the pain til towards the end, I feel I was properly prepped by the dental assistant with the barrier and gauze, etc...), never have had sensitive teeth and was not in the least bit concerned ahead of time about doing this. I've tried at home whitening products and never had a bad reaction I just wanted to do Zoom b/c its quick and I am re-doing some crowns soon because I'm getting married and didn't want to take the time to slowly bleach...BAD IDEA! The results are very disappointing, I see MAYBE 2 shades difference which I could have gotten at home eventually. Even if it were more like 4-5 shades I'd still say NOT WORTH IT for the amount of pain you will be in! Constant throbbing, severe stabbing and shooting pains to your nerves, so bad I couldn't talk, eat, or do anything except lay down. I probably wouldn't have believed it would have happened to me even if I had been warned (which my dentists office did NOT do), and reading these I would've thought well they just had bad experiences but I'll be ok...NO! This is something I would urge you not to find out for yourself. My gums are raw and bleeding (yes I had the barrier, and this just started tonite), can't wait to see what else is in store for me...uggh! I WOULD NOT DO THIS AGAIN, and it takes a lot for me to say that about something!

This procedure seems to have damaged my 6 upper front teeth. They were very very rough immediately after, like sandpaper. My teeth no longer shine. They were a brighter shade but they seemed to be so porous they soaked up the first cup of coffee I drank and literally turned brown. Thankfully the at home trays take the brown out but they darken again after a few days. 2 months later my teeth are still not shiney, feel slightly rough and have a visible surface erosion on them. I wish I had not had this done, I really think my teeth have been permanently damaged

I had zoom3 done yesterday here in DC. It only cost me $149 as the dentist accepted a $100 gift card they had mailed out randomly in the area (I just moved to that part of DC). I hadnt really read anything about it (at least not negative) before going so went into it blind... I'm thinking now thats probably not a bad thing as some of these sites would scare the you know whats out of you going! Anyway they gave me this 5 page document to read and initial every page which was the "caution" about going into it - reading that nearly had me leave too as it did talk all about the zingers and pain and possible side effects and if you hadnt had your teeth checked by a dentist before hand they couldnt be responsible for any issues as a result of dental problems! anyway i went through with it - she said i'd only need 3 sessions of 15 mins. they spent 20 mins getting me ready! I was more afraid of suffocating or gagging on all the gauze they put in my mouth, including one that was to rest on my tongue to stop it touching my teeth!! i got through the 3 sessions fine although by the 3rd one it felt like 40 minutes not 15. my lip did feel "hot" after that one but otherwise fine. When she showed me how white my teeth were she was more excited than me as said it was an A+ in that it was brighter than the expected top level white! i was delighted but some of those zingers an hour later were crippling - i kept saying "tough it up, you want white teeth you pay!!" i took the aleve pills she gave me (they only gave me 2) and then 2 hours later i took 2 tynelol. i went to bed and did sleep. woke up at 5am with sensitive teeth but had no zingers (amen!!). I do have a swollen lower lip that looks like i got a wallop from something and thats probably more sore than my teeth, although they're sensitive! I drank a bottle of milk instead of my usual tea (and it was cold) and ate some hash browns with scrambled eggs and had no problems with pain or issues with hot/cold touching my teeth (amen again!!) I figure another day and a good nights sleep and I'll be grand but do think I was lucky as the vast majority seem to be suffering worse! According to the paperwork the dentist gave me, you shouldnt need to do this again for at least a year, if you continue to brush your teeth using whitening toothpaste so i figure the small pain is worth the large gain - my teeth are 10 times white than they were, i only hope it doesnt fade so much i wonder was it worth it but at least i only paid $149 if thats the case - if i'd paid more i'd likely be unhappy if the bright white faded! right now i feel like they're so white i need sunglasses on to look at them (please let it last!!) but we shall see - time will tell. hopefully the burnt lower lip doesnt blister and peel or it'll ruin the effect!! what I am curious about though is that my dentist never even mentioned take home trays so wonder did people pay more for those (I suspect so) but she did tell me that the toothpaste I'm using (whitener) will help keep them this white for a long time if i brush twice daily morning and night!.

I just had the "Zoom" whitening treatment today. And let me tell you, this shooting "Zinger" pain is out of control. It hurts so much that it is causing me to be nauseaus. I handled 3, 15 minute sessions. And was crying at the end. Mind you my teeth look amazing, but we will see the lasting effects in a few days. My upper gums were burned a tiny bit, but those shooting electric shock pains are crazy. If this thing works long term, the cost ($400.00) and the pain will be worth it. A beautiful white smile is worth anything. And I have the utmost faith in my dentist, and know that she would never do harm to me.

First, I would NOT RECOMMEND this whitening process to anyone. You're completely restless and exhausted by the second 15 minute session, your tongue doesn't know where to go, the glasses are uncomfortable, but not too bad to leave on. The pain afterwards, SO NOT WORTH IT. I thought I was going to die. My husband didn't know whether to laugh or feel bad for me. I couldn't even open my eyes, let alone my mouth because of the instant pain of sensitivity on my teeth from any bit of temperature change in the room. I didn't eat or speak for hours! I had to take 800mg of ibuporfen to knock out. When I woke up the next morning I was ok (thank God), but my gums started to bleed when I would brush my teeth!!!!!

I must admit my teeth looked amazing the first 48 hours, but now they're right back to how they looked before I got this treatment done which was not even two weeks ago. I have pretty white teeth and I'm super picky with them; always buying the best toothpaste and mouthwashes, etc., but I would NEVER IN MY LIFE waste $400 on this treatment. I remember the Colgate whitener in a bottle that you'd brush on - now THAT was an amazing product. I'll have to look for it again.

In conclusion, it was a waste of money and time. I think this is just a gimick to get people to spend lots of money at the dentist. So save yourself some money and stick to the over-the-counter whitening systems. They've proven to work better by the CONSUMER, not the dentists or the product companies.

I had Zoom done this morning. The dentist was very straight forward with me and told me to expect the Zingers. I did take 3 tylenol before I went. I was prepared to be in pain during the treatment. They put a protective seal over my gums and packed tons of gauze in my mouth, along with a mouth guard that covered my lips. I was extremely nervous because I read this website before I went. I did 3 sessions of 15 min. I didn't have ANY zingers during the treatment. I think burns could only occur if the staff is not careful, they took about 30 minutes to "prepare me". About 3 hours after I left the office I started getting zingers. At first they were one ever 15 min or so, now 7 hours later they are constant. It's like a constant wave of toothache that gets worse and better on and off. (kind of like a migraine in your teeth).
If your teeth are really yellow I think this could be worth it, I however would not do this again. The pain is not worth my gain.

Had ZOOM done yesterday. Used desensitizing gel for 4 consecutive days before procedure. Had three 15 minute rounds. The first 2 rounds were fine. The 3rd round I had some zingers...kind of painful. Right after the procedure they had me wear home my trays filled with fluoride (to desensitize). I was fine for a couple of hours...had some zingers, but not bad. About 5 hours after the procedure, all my teeth and gums hurt and were extremely sensitive! I fell asleep in pain. I woke up today and feel fine. My bottom 2 teeth feel sore, but not sensitive. Is it worth it? I would say no. Get impressions made, and use the at home bleaching kit!

Just had the Zoom! done and the results are great! I had one little gum burn near the end of the procedure and the dentist put a little vitamin e on it and it was fine. Teeth feel great- no real pain nor was there any pain during the procedure - just boredom and slightly uncomfortable having to sit with your mouth propped open for over an hour. It is now the next day and I didn't have and don't have now any of the pains others have mentioned. Maybe it's me or maybe it's the dentist - I went to Comfort Care Dental in Sherman Oaks - super nice and Dr. Tom is the best- highly recommended. Glad I did it - Oh the other small pain is you can eat only "white" foods-like, rice- banana - pasta - sprite- water, for 3 days afterwards due to possible staining. Overall a good experience!

I had the Zoom procedure yesterday. I brushed w/a special de-sensitizing toothpaste for 2 weeks prior to the procedure. During the 2nd round, I began to experience the sharp, shooting jolts of pain that others have described. They were really bad. I made it through all 4 rounds, though, and my teeth were definitely much, much whiter. I was in MAJOR pain afterward-- tooth ibuprofen/tylenol (large amounts) every 3 hours. The jolts of pain reminded me of childbirth contractions. I had two small "burn" spots on my gums that seem to be healing. My pain has lessened a lot today-- no longer having the jolts of pain, more a moderate level of discomfort.

I wish I had been informed about the potential pain. I probably would have opted for trays instead.

It works-- but you have to be really tough to withstand it!

I had the Zoom completed this morning at 10:00 and still have REALLY bad pains in my teeth. I don't have any burns on my lips or gums like others are talkin about, but my teeth hurt so bad, I can't even smile cause the air makes the pain worse!! The results are great for me....very white, but honestly I would not have done this if I knew it was going to hurt this bad!

Just got done with my Zoom in-office whitening. I thought it was going to hurt like the reviews I read about, but it really didn't hurt at all. I am not sure about the next 48 hours with the sensitivity, but for now it doesn't hurt and no zingers! My teeth look great and I just wanted to post a good review for those out there doing research and get scared like I did from all the bad reviews. I really didn't hurt, but my dentist gave me flouride to rinse with at home and I used Sensodyne faithfully for at least 3 weeks before the procedure.

Just had the Zoom whitening done today and i too took a Xnax before going. The dental assistant did all the packing of the gauze and the goop they put on to prevent gums from getting burned but some of the peroxide solution soaked through the gauze and irritated my throat as well as the " Zingers " people are discribing are the absolute truth. I was done on the second stage and quit the third and final due to those zinger pains. She gave me some stuff to apply on the teeth that bothered me and it didn't work. She acted as though she didn't know anything about it and so she asked the hygentist there and the hygentist said it's true about the sensitivity and the zinger pains but hello....that would have been nice to know ahead of time. The nice thing is i didn't have to pay full price since i didn't complete the third stage. I wouldn't repeat this and wouldn't reccomend it either. Only if you have non sensitive teeth and can take the pain. The pain is like a quick severe toothache and then fades out and back in. The whitening results are just ok.

DONT DO IT!
I have 2nd & 3rd degree burns on my lips and inside my mouth. I just returned from spending the day at my family Physicians office and at the pharmacy. I am starving & dehydrated because my mouth hurts so bad I cannot eat or drink. Even a straw is unbearable! I was prescribed LIDOCAINE to swish in my mouth to numb it, and Percocet to ease the pain. I had the Zoom treatment 3 days ago & have spent the weekend trying to heal. My very reputable Dentist suggested Vitamin E (squeeze gel pills on wounds to calm them), and Orajel (which stung and didnt help at all). She was surprised to hear from me over the weekend, and concerned about my injury, but seemed to think it would heal soon. It has only gotten worse!
My mouth swelled up huge day one, and blistered, and peeled, and had big white areas inside. Day two I had chunks of dead white flesh breaking off leaving open wounds. I woke this morning, day three, with my lips fused together and ripped them apart when I opened my mouth.
My teeth looked great, I thought, but upon closer examination arent even that white, except in the center of each. I feel exhausted, hungry, thirsty, and my head hurts to say the least. I should note that I am used to extreme pain, as I am permanently disabled from a drunk driver running a red light, causing me severe spine injuries. The pain from the Zoom is real, and extreme.

>>>DONT DO IT!!! There are plenty of safer options that work just as well, if not better<<<

After reviewing other peoples comments here, I went in today for Zoom Whitening. I brushed for several weeks with Sensodyne and took Tylenol before my appointment this morning. It took about two hours between them setting me up and reapplying the creme. I had 4 sessions of 15 minutes each. My bottom teeth are much whiter but my top didn't lighten up as much as I wanted. They sent me home with trays to use as well.

I didn't have any discomfort during the procedure but now 4 hours after the treatment I've had several "zingers" and the pain is horrible. Wow!! I mean I grab my mouth in agony pain. BTW my cost was $300, I wouldn't advise anyone pay more than that I called around to several offices to find the best deal. I was quoted $700 at another local office, I would have been severely disappointed if I had paid that much.

I had this done at Park Dental in Maple Grove. I was warned that some patients experience pain during or after the procedure, and that there could be burns. I was also told to take a pain killer (I took 2 ibuprofen) prior to the procedure just in case. I viewed it as one of those deals where you don't think you're going to get seasick, but take the dramamine anyway deals.

My dentist took time to carefully apply gauze and shielding to my gums and lips. I experienced one minor, small burn above my right cuspid. No biggie. I kinda felt a tingle during the procedure, but didn't think anything of it. It healed within an hour after vitamin E was applied. It sounds like many of the comments here came from people who had dentists that either didn't care or didn't know what they were doing.

I have teeth that are very sensitive to temperatures. I had no pain during the procedure; however, for several hours following the procedure, I've had the "zingers" people describe. They last for all of about 2-3 seconds, and they are excruciatingly painful. They come in spurts every 30 minutes or so, during which I will get several. I've also experienced some mild forms of the "zingers" with regularity (multiple times per minute) that I will chalk up to just uncomfortable, but wouldn't go so far as to say they are distracting.

The Zoom provides both the 90min treatment which instantly made my teeth many shades whiter, but it also comes with touch up trays that can be used to keep my teeth white. Whitening trays are normally $300, the Zoom with the trays is $450.

I haven't had a true "zinger" now for an hour, and if this mild zinger stuff goes away in the next day, I would absolutely have this done again.

AMAZING!!! Im so happy I paid for this procedure, it was the best thing on earth that I could do for myself. My Dentist was great, she informed me off the process and even warned me of these stingers, I only felt it once a few hours after I left. She went over the details with me and explained that I should not try talking or moving while the process was going, or the gel could move and burn my gums....Also, she let me know that results can vary... it has a lot to do with you and your teeth as well... So i recomment people BRUSH your teeth!!!!! Well after following her instructions, Im so happy with my results!!! OMG! She still provided me with a gel just in case I had any sensitivity.

My teeth are beautiful.... LOVE it!..... I have read numerous of blogs and it seems like you guys did not consult with the right dentist. I had no sensitvity, no lip burns and no discomfort whatso ever. My dentist had me brush with flouride 7 days before my procedure he took time to put that stuff on my gums and he told me to stay still during the procedure because movement can cause the things to shift. I love it moved 6 shades up and I can't be more happy!

OMFG! How is this treatment still legal??? There must be a class-action lawsuit going on somewhere! I have noticed some consistent storylines in all of these reviews: the dentist office personnel NEVER use the word "pain", there are no warnings of any kind when you make your appt, it's always the patients' "fault" if there are any problems afterwards - your teeth are highly calcified, your mouth is too small, you have sensitive teeth. I wish I had found this page before I brought this nightmare upon myself! I had this done about 3 weeks ago, and I am STILL suffering from the after-effects. My lips and the roof of my mouth were blistered, my gums can barely be brushed without bleeding now, my front teeth (upper and lower) are even sensitive to room temperature air. I think the back of my throat has been damaged - I have to go see an ENT later this week! The way the dentists do this, and don't talk about it, and kind of slink around the subject reminds me of back room drug deals, or gambling or SOMETHING illegal. It SHOULD be illegal. By the time they are finished prepping your mouth you feel like Hannibal Lector. Then you are forced to sit perfectly still and silent while something like a laser beam is turning the inside of your mouth into raw hamburger. I was so shocked by the sheer torture of this whole ordeal - no wonder everyone avoids you while you voluntarily submit yourself to "dental abuse" and pay them to do it to you! I think they're ashamed of themselves for this whole scam! I'm going to contact a lawyer if my ENT determines my throat problem is related to this procedure. I don't just want my $500 back - talk about pain & suffering!!! For all of this, my teeth looked about 2 shades whiter and now look about the same as before. My gums are still too sore to even attempt the at-home part of this treatment. Please, everyone, skip this insane process and just do the at-home whitening trays. Apparently, the damage this does to your teeth will last forever!!!

I had read many good and many bad reviews the day before the procedure. I was going to dentist office a bit worried about the teeth sensitivity, I even called and asked if I needed any pain pills or what nots. I went in and we did impressions on my teeth and then about 30 min of prep work, i was ready. My dentist took the extra time to cover up my gums and they even kept appling sunscreen to my lips and we did 3 sessions of 20 min. The time seamed to go pretty quick and they kept checking in on me. After the procedure my teeth were 10 shades whiter. I drink 3 cups of coffee every morning so I had yellow tinges on my teeth. Im 31 years old and found this to be a nice gift to myself. It isnt very affordable but I put it on my carecredit card and it workd out great.......I had lunch about an hour after and Im not sensitive....I am very pleased with the results......I deserved it..

I read the reviews on here the night before my treatment and very nearly cancelled as a result! However I am very glad I went through with the treatment.

Before starting I asked my dentist if I would be likely to experience pain, as my teeth and gums are very sensitive. His reply was very evasive which did not fill me with confidence! It's true the hour long treatment is uncomfortable and at several points I wanted to ask them to stop but decided to stick it out. However I didn't experience any of the pain some people have endured.

Afterwards I had some sensitivity, nothing major. I had two "zingers" about an hour afterwards which were painful but thankfully brief. And now 48 hours later I guess that was about it!

I'm very happy with the results, my teeth are looking a lot cleaner and whiter and still look natural. However it has only been 48 hours so not sure how long this would last.

I just wanted to highlight that it is possible to have a positive experience with Zoom. My advice would be don't necessarily choose the cheapest place... I paid a bit more to go to a well respected surgery and probably the extra time and care they took in preparation and aftercare made my experience positive.

I'm not sure if I would recommend though, it seems everybody needs to balance the risks and are not always as lucky as I was.

After reading all of these horrific posts, I almost canceled my appointment. I AM GLAD I DIDN'T!

I had met with my dentist who told me I was a great candidate for ZOOM. He explained the procedure in detail, including the side effects, and he gave me Fluoride toothpaste to use for a week before the appointment.

The night before my appointment I visited this website....THAT was my biggest mistake, I was petrified. The morning of the session I popped a couple of Alleve and went in...feeling like I was going to the gas chamber.

The prep took about 30 mins, the technician telling what was happening each step of the way. Then the ZOOM began...........tick, tock, tick, tock.... I waited, ANXIOUS and JITTERY thinking back on all of these posts. I was sweting and gripping the arms of the cahir.........Session 1, Session 2, Session 3, and finally Session 4. NOTHING. After 4-15 minute sessions I was done.

The worst part of the entire procedure was biting down on the mouth guard for an hour. ANd you know what? The results are pretty amazing. Not a fake Hollywood white, but white, bright and natural looking.

I got my take home trays with "soothing" gel and went home. I took another Aleve and waited, as NOW was when I would experience the stabbing, mind numbing ZINGERS. 1 hr, 2 hrs, 5, hrs, 8 hrs. NOTHING. A slight sensitivty and I do mean slight. I am now a day and a half out of my ZOOM session and I have had NO issues, and I have started on my once daily home bleaching (which needs to be done for a week.)

I MUST SAY that it appears that I am not the norm here, I mean someone said child birth was easier, but I HAD to come out here and post my experience for those of you on the fence to say that YES it is possible to have ZOOM Bleaching without nightmarish pain and lousy results.

Zoom is unbelievably painful. It rapidly dehydrates your teeth, you have
to go to the dentist (and thats out of the way) Expensive and i got the same
results from a whitening kit i bought online at toothwhiteners dot com

I am in agony- I got zoom whitening at around 6pm, finished at 8PM, wore my flouride trays to make them less sensitive, and here is is almost 1:30 am and I am in absolutely burning pain all over my teeth. I took two alleve and two vicadin and I cannot sleep and am in such terrible, terrible pain.

My teeth are white and bright, however I am exhausted and writhing in pain. I would not do this again. We will see how I feel tomorrow. As of right now, I am not looking forward ot being awake any longer.

I am an Australian and recently holidayed in Thailand. The first day I arrived I had my teeth whitened with the Zoom whitening system. It cost $300AU and took nearly 1 and a half hours. I had four twenty minute sessions and of course there was some minor discomfort especially with having to sit so still with only the ceiling to look at. I ended up counting the seconds to pass the time. Finally it was finished, my gums were slightly tender and this did last a couple of days, but didn't bother me even while eating. My teeth are heaps whiter and even strangers have commented. I'll get them done every time I go back. I'm very pleased!!

I read the reviews on this site (and others) with trepidation and was quite anxious about having the procedure but decided to go ahead as I really wanted whiter teeth. Prior to this, my teeth were a little sensitive on occasion but I could breathe through my mouth in cold weather and drink iced drinks with no sensitivity.

I had the Zoom procedure today and took painkillers 1 hour before the procedure started, as recommended. I paid £399 (reduced from £600).

The whitening worked brilliantly and I absolutely love the results. However, I started getting zingers during the second 15 min session which worsened throughout the last 15 min session. Although the dentist stopped and applied desensitiser before proceeding I continued to wince but stuck it out.

It is now ~7 hours after the procedure ended and the sensitivity/zingers have been pretty constant ever since. I would NEVER have this procedure again! I do love the appearance and am glad I went through with it, but you need to weigh up what your tolerance for intense and constant pain is like (and whether you can cope without eating).

I will try the desensitiser tray next and hope that works...

I had Zoom about four months ago and it cost $1000.00, my dentist is a specialises in cosmetic dentistry and failed to explain or warn me of the potential pain associated to the three, consecutive, 15 minute procedures.

I anticipated there to be some sensitivity, however never could of imagined how severe and sharp these shooting pains were... There were not that many during the treatment, it more or so felt like someone had a ciggy lighter on my teeth randomly.

After the gause was taken out and I went to pay I couldn't tolerate the pain, and had sharp, random, shooting, indescribable pains in each tooth sporadically. These lasted about 8 or so hours however it was so unbearable I drugged myself with valium to sleep. I swore to myself during the aftermath I would have never done it, had I known how painful it was.

When I woke in the morning I wasn't overly satisfied with the results, however people at work were shocked how white my teeth were, I didn't tell them I was getting the procedure done, so there must have been some difference.

I found the take home trays the most effective, painless way to get your teeth white. It can be annoying putting the trays in every night, but it is the easiest way to do it, with only minor bearable sensitivity the next day. I use the 35% bleach for about 2-3 hours a night and my teeth are really white, I drink coffee and smoke too.

Believe what you read and don't put yourself through Zoom, at best get some form of guarantee from your dentist prior to the procedure.

I would deffinatley not recomend the zoom. it hurt so badly and I had a minimum of 2 excrutiating zingers each 20 minute treatment and afterwards they persisted. I didn't have trouble with the sensitivity afterwards because I used a fluoride toothpaste the week before my treatment. however, I have not noticed a huge differential in the lightness of by teeth. I was dissapointed because it's an uncomfortable, painful and expensive process.

My teeth have always had a yellowish tint since I was a child. I just recently got out of my braces and decided to get the whitening. It was VERY affordable for me... Free... And if I keep my 6 mon cleaning with the dentist I will get a free one every other year.... The whitening worked great... I went up 6 shades... I didnt get my 1st zinger until the last 10 mins of the last application... I got this done at 3:30 and they just stopped at 9:00... I've even had a 2 bowls of cereal, brushed my teeth, and put my retainer in with no further problems... But I don't like the zingers and I'll never do this again... I have a high tolerance for pain (5 tats) and this was extremely painful for me...

I have sensitive teeth and even after reading this blog had Zoom 2 hrs ago. Only 2 zingers so far. The procedure went very well. I have a small mouth and TMJ so was a bit afraid of the mouthpiece. With careful maneuvering by the dental assistant it went in fine and felt ok. The gauze was no problem, but I didn't care for having to "bite down" during the treatments. My gauze was replaced before each treatment and care was taken to keep the gel off of my lips/gums. I felt a few zingers towards the end of my 3rd treatment and during the 4th, but it wasn't too bad. My dentist's office and staff are very professional and well trained. This is a service they are experienced in; I would do it again. BTW, I took a Zanax before I went and had my herbal eye pillow and iPod with me- it totally worked!!!!

I would NOT recommend Zoom! I thought I was the only one who had such a horrible experience, but after reading all the comments I see i'm definitely not the only one. My teeth were so sensitive I couldn't even open my mouth, the wind would even hurt. I drugged myself with tylenol that same night without any relief. I ended up driving to Walmart at midnight looking for some sort of desensitizor. It was horrible. ANNNNDDDDD to top it off, my teeth look the same, if not worse. Waste of my money :(

I'm surprised to read all the poor reviews. Thoroughly check into the dentist you plan to use, because I wonder if some people have gone to the cheapest place they can find and are then surprised when it was a poor experience.

I had the proceedure done with slight discomfort, nothing excruciating. Took a painkiller and went home. Ate veggi sushi almost right away without trouble. In four hours I've had three 'zingers' that last a second and go away.

My teeth look great and it was not that painfull. I hope it lasts, since the cost was $500.

I was never warned in advance and had no expectation that the session would be so uncomfortable.

* I found the plastic device to hold mouth open, and gauze tucked between teeth and gums to be uncomfortable.

* I did have a few very brief "zingers" as I hear them described in these reviews, but fortunately they were very brief, just half a second - (a burning sensation) - and when I mentioned them to the dental assistant she said she had vitamin e oil that she could paint onto an area if the stinging persisted (which I didn't).

* but I had a very hard time tolerating the last 20 minute session (of 3) - becuase my mouth felt so extremely dry, and the gauze and mouth opening device hurt increasingly.

* day after, my lower gums and inside of lower lip feel very "raw" and painful. I hope it goes away.

* I am scheduled for teeth cleaning today - I'm afraid it will really hurt.

* but, my teeth definitely do look lighter.

I GOT TMJ NOW BECAUSE I WAS STRESSING SO MUCH ABOUT THIS STUPID WHITENING. I HAD IT DONE TWO MONTHS AGO AND I REMEMBER THAT WAS THE STUPIDEST MISTAKE I'VE EVER MADE IN MY LIFE. THE PAIN WAS JUST UNDESCRIBABLE AND I DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO TAKE CARE OF THE PAIN. SO I JUST KEPT ON BITING DOWN HARD ON THE TOWEL AND NOW I FUCKING HAVE TMJ THAT I HAVE TO LIVE WITH FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE. IT DOESN'T EVEN WHITENS TEETH AND I FUCKING LOST ALL OF MY ENAMEL ON MY TEETH. THE COLOR TURNED MORE YELLOW THAN THEY WERE BEFORE. THIS SUCKS SO MUCH WHY DIDN'T I READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE I GOT IT DONE? AND WHY THE HELL DOES IT STILL EXIST ON THIS PLANET? DON'T GO FOR IT PLEASE, AND TRUST ME. YOU WILL LOSE YOUR ENAMEL AND ONCE IT'S GONE, IT'S GONE. YOU CAN'T PUT ANYMORE OF WHITENING STRIPS OR ANYTHING. FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, I USED LISTERINE STRIPS AND THE NEXT DAY PEOPLE NOTICED MY WHITE TEETH. WELL FUCK. I CAN'T DO THAT ANYMORE. FUCK THIS SHIT.

I had zoom done 5 days ago. The zingers during the treatmentwere harsh, but tolerable. That night at home, they got worse, but then pretty much subsided the next day. However, the results were nowhere to be found! My teeth are no whiter (just a few white spots here and there), and overall, look worse than before. This system is an absolute rip-off. I've been wanting to have my teeth whitnened for so long, and I just can't belive that I wasted almost $400 and have nothing to show for it (other than sore gums)....

Oh lord. I would not recommend. I am 6 hours post Zoom now and in some of the worst pain of my life. During the procedure I was more or less fine, aprt from when they burnt my tongue severely, but ever since I returned home I have been in agony. Yes, I get the odd Zinger, but my bottom teeth are in constant pain.

The procedure was so uncomfortable I can't begin to tell you. It was the longest hour of my life, and the results are really not that great.

DON'T DO IT.

I had Zoom whitening done 5 days ago and the results are terribly disappointing. I only experienced a small amount of pain in the 3rd session but nothing unbearable.

At the end of the treatment i was so upset as my teeth were still the same yellowish color but with some white blotches and lines on them. I didn't expect 'movie star' white teeth but they looked terrible and ridiculous. 5 days later and the white blotches are starting to fade back to my original color so my teeth don't look as ridiculous as they did immediately after the treatment but I feel like i have been robbed of my $650 for this scam/treatment which has made my teeth look worse than before.

In my opinion this treatment does not work and you will not end up with teeth anything like the images you online. Any whiteness that you see immediately after the treatment also disappears within a week so all the people on here who say they have just had it done and are happy with how white their teeth are will probably change their minds in a weeks time when the whiteness disappears.

I regret doing the ZOOM. Not only is it painful, but the results are horrible. I have white stains on my teeth. My teeth, gums, and roof of my mouth are terribly painful. Although I was not burned, I now fear I have ruined my enamal. Please think twice about this. You only get one set of permanent teeth. This product should be banned. Not sure why so many dentists allow this in their practices.
