Zoom 2 Whitening Review

The Zoom2 system was marketed as a much improved version of the original zoom light. The bleaching gel was updated to a calcium phosphate based gel. The makers of Zoom2 claim that it is 33% faster than the original with results showing an average of 8 shades in 45 minutes.

Many dentists have noticed that patients are experiencing less sensitivity with Zoom2 than with Zoom1.

Note: Zoom has now released a Zoom 3 system. Since there seems to be many iterations of this system, and consumers do not know which is which, user reviews below may be for any one of the systems Philips has produced.

I love the zoom.... I've had it done 6 times.. 4 times I've paid 400.00 . I found a place that charge $175.00 ... Yes I get the zingers , and it hurts , but the results is what keeps me going back every six months. I also bleach in between . I just love having a beautiful smile. I also love the compliments from other people about how white my teeth are..... Go get zoomed..... It's worth it...

It seems many people seem to have different experiences on here.

I got the Zoom 2 treatment done yesterday. The Lebanese Dentist was very good and knew what he was doing. Made sure that he checked on me every 20 mins to ensure that the light was not burning, and it was still in the correct place.

Cost was very good $265 for the 1 hour treatment.

After getting home, I did experience some sensitivity last night on the front teeth, this seems to have gone this morning.

Must refrain from coffee, smoking, and any coloured food for 48 hours minimum as the teeth will absorb any colourings over the next couple of days.

My teeth are at least 8 shades whiter, and i must say i am very impressed with the result.

I chose a new dentist based on them offering free Zoom2. I love the dentist; I am completely disappointed in Zoom2. I had no idea that it could be painful. I got several "zingers" of pain throughout and for 8+ hours after. It's been 24 hours and my teeth are still very sore! They only whitened the front 8 or so teeth on the top and bottom, yet even my molars are aching. On top of it, my teeth aren't much whiter. They weren't too bad to start, but it's not like they were already so white that bleaching wouldn't matter. I'd only used whitening strips twice before, not for a couple of years, and I'm 39. So, there was enough staining that I expected a BIG difference from Zoom2. I'd say my teeth are two shades lighter. It's less noticeable than the results I got from using Crest White strips. Totally not worth it. I'm soooo glad that it was free. If I'd pay the $400+ that others did, I'd be wicked POed.
Oh, and the worst part, I can’t have coffee for 4 days!!! I live in Seattle. That’s like taking away my oxygen for 4 days. I’ll be sure to tell anyone who asks to run, not walk, away from Zoom2.

After reading these reviews I nearly cancelled but I am glad I didnt. When I arrived I expressed my concerns about the pain aspect of the treatment and the dentist said approx 1 in 500 experienced severe pain and most experienced none/slight sensitivity. I had no discomfort or sensitivity during the treatment or afterwards. My teeth are whiter and I am using the moulded gum shields to get them even whiter. If I am honest I am a bit disappointed with the resullt as I think I had unrealistic expectations. I will post in two weeks after the gum shield mould treatment and let you know the results.

Got zoom done today about 6 hours ago. Since then I have been having extreme pain. "zingers" apparently my teeth are very white but the pain definitely NOT worth it. The zingers aren't coming as often now but my teeth ache terribly.

I had the zoom whitening done today and am in horrible pain. I think every case is different and some people do just fine but I honestly wouldn't recommend taking the risk. My dentist is excellent and I didn't get any burns or blisters on my lips or mouth. My teeth are killing me! The 'zings' have turned into constant pain. I don't think it's a bad product, my teeth are very beautiful and white now, but definitely not worth it. I had to leave work early and have my dentist call in pain meds for me. Not fun when you pay for pain! Gues that what I get for being vain.

I am a dental assistant and I have had this done, along with performing it several times.
When I had it done, I was of course aware of the possibilities of 'Zingers' I started getting them my second session in and said nothing because I really wanted my teeth to be as white as possible as I was getting ready for a wedding. In not saying anything I caused myself more pain. I had light zingers the rest of the day, the next day I was crying and unable to work my mouth was constantly 'zinging' and I was on the Max amount of pain killers allowed.
There is only a small percentage of people who experience 'Zingers' there is no way of knowing who will and will not get them. If you experience them, let the dentist know and he can help prevent them from getting worse and possibly flat out stop them.
Do not be scared to get this done, it works amazingly, it's affordable, and it's very convenient.
If you're worried just ask your dentist as many questions as you need, they will give you pain killers before to try and prevent the 'Zingers' and will send you home with a gel to put on your teeth for in case you do start to feel pain.

I had the Zoom whitening done this morning and I was really nervous after reading the reviews. I asked 90234 questions before going through with it. my experience was great. the tech applied vitamin E to my lips and also put a mouth guard on that completly covered my lips from the light. then she applied guaze to protect my gums. she also applied this gel like solution to my gums to protect them in case they get exposed to the blue light. that is what i was most afraid of was the burning of the lips and gums. i did 3 sessions and only experience zingers during the 3rd session and decided i did not want to go through a 4th session bc i was having zingers a few minutes after my 3rd session was over. i already did see a difference after my 3rd session. I was given my mouth trays with relief gel and whitening gel to take home. I did have zingers for about 2 hrs after the procedure and applied the relief gel for 30 mins and i did get relief. i took some aleve to help as well. i do not have any burns on my lips or gums, i was just really thirsty after it was all over with and my water did bother my teeth afterwards, but overall I am very pleased with the outcome and would reccomend this to anyone.

Would you be able to whiten veneers with this? Or at least make all of my other teeth match my veneers? I would like that a lot. http://www.utahvalleydentallab.com/products/

I did the procedure this afternoon.
My upper lip was burned and now is swollenand numb!
My teeth are killing me in pain! Is 3am and I can't sleep :(
They just told me to use Sensodyne after treatment and advil.
None has worked. :(
I did not get any gel after Zoom to make my sensitivity less painful.
Thank G, I paid only $99 through Groupon for this thing! And I regret it.
My teeth were already white and they probably are just a bit whiter but wouldn't go thru this again not even for free.. :/
My nurse also made me sat down in that machine and leave it on to what it seem Hours!!
Worst experience ever!
Keep your $ in your pocket

Everyone has a different pain threshold. However, I did NOT have ANY pain during the Zoom treatment. Here are the different possibilities:
I might have gone to a dentist who was very seasoned performing the procedure.
I took two Aleve before the treatment (though NO painkillers after.)
Teeth and gums can be sensitive and problematic for one person and flawless for another. Maybe I just got lucky.
The reason I've come to give feedback is because I was terrified after reading the reviews. I've never had children--but women said giving birth was not as bad (OMG!) Reviews of burnt lips, usage of extreme painkillers...agony. I'm glad I read the reviews, but they scared the s*it out of me. I went in terrified, hoping every minute that passed wouldn't set off a pain catalyst. The only discomfort I experienced was a dry throat by the end of the treatment. The whitening ended just as I was getting desperate for a glass of water.
As for zingers: I have had minor and mild jolts of a "zing." The best way to describe them would be as if I bit into a Popsicle at the wrong angle of my tooth and got that freeze jolt for a second. I waited 24hrs to write this review since many people didn't have pain to begin with and several hours later were unhappy. I grind my teeth and wear a very fitted mouth guard at night. I felt no pain from the mouth guard clamping on to my teeth or from grinding. Here's my advice: you can read a million reviews that will scare you or comfort you. At the end of the day, it's what your experience will be (and unfortunately, this has to happen after the fact.) My teeth are a beautiful white. I had been a coffee drinker for too long (I'm 30--started at 18) and saw the residual effects. I am, thus far, thrilled with the color improvement. The dentist mentioned if you have blue/grayish teeth---this treatment isn't a good idea for you. I reckon it works best for the removal of yellow or brown staining. I paid $169 for Zoom via Groupon. I also paid to have my teeth cleaned beforehand (additional $75...but that is a pretty standard rate in Los Angeles) so they were in the best state possible for the treatment. This also concerned me as I thought the combo of whitening and cleaning would be too much. Again, no problems. The bottom line: I think anything more than $200 for teeth whitening is out of my ballpark so I was thrilled to get such a great price. If you have fears, the dentist is OF COURSE going to tell you it won't hurt. So, again, think about your pain threshold and if you are willing to take a risk for whiter teeth. I am not discounted the other complaints--people write reviews often when they've had a fabulous experience or horrible one. I just wanted to write to those of you shaking in your boots that I am one of the patients who would recommend this and have suffered NO residual effects.

Good luck!

I got my teeth whitened today with Zoom. I was out of the dentist at 11:40 this morning and I had absolutely not pain during the procedure; as soon I got to the receptionist desk I started feeling the pain. Right now it is 3:20 and the pain is pretty bad but not unbearable. I took advil and even resorted to a hydrocodein pill that seems to be working. Though I'm experiencing sensitivity it is worth it so far because my teeth look great. I'm 20 yrs old and my teeth were nice to begin with but this adds the whiteness I've always wanted. If you drink alot of red wine and coffee and smoke then you shouldn't be surprised to see your teeth go back to their original color since those are the leading causes of yellowish teeth. Also, my dad had the Zoom done last week and he experienced no sensitivity during or after the procedure. Everyone is different and if you're sensitive then don't do it.

Had Zoom2 done in Goa, India. Absolute agony!. After placing the shields in my mouth and gauses, they dentist turned the lasers on to do my top teeth first. It felt as if someone was squeezing a pair of pliers on my gums and teeth as hard as they could, this went on for half an hour, I really thought that something serious was going wrong, but did not want to wimp out as my girlfriend had just had hers done before me and she managed to get through it. Then I had the bottom set done this was much easier, but still a modicum of discomfort. The dentist said after wards don't eat anything hot or too cold for the next 24 hrs. The same night my teeth were feeling a bit slimey so I gave them a quick brush which tore all the skin off above my top 2 front teeth, this left them raw and bleeding and quite frankly look horrific, I simply was not aware how burnt my gum were. I visited the dentist to explain what had happened and his receptionist said she had never seen anything go wrong ever before, and the dentist was not in at the moment, she went into the surgery and came back with a piece of paper saying Mucoid gel on it and that I should go to the chemist for some. The guy in the chemist new exactly why I wanted it even before I said anything, he just said "had your teeth whitened have you?". My gum over the next 2 days turned green and infected. After a week, the skin dropped off leaving my teeth receeded and still throbbing from the treatment, and brushing my teeth is very painful if I catch my brush on my gum. I won't be doing this again, every morning I wake up with my face throbbing as if I have been kicked in it by a horse. Saying that my teeth are very white, even though they are destoyed and killing me!

excellent result-had a small amount of sensitivity but applied the provided gel and took paracetemol as advised and was gone next day. the effects have been long lasting and are still the b1 shade achieved a year ago.
i occasionally use home bleach for a day to help combat staining drinks and food. would recommend/

I have had my zoom ii teeth whitening done today at 10:00am. Before i went i had heard all of the horrible reviews about the pain and it seems everyone gets it. This did not put me off at all as Im getting married soon and wanted white teeth regardless of the consequences. Even though i went to a different dentist to the one that was doing the procedure the day before to get my teeth cleaned and he advised me not to go through with the zoom ii as my gums were a little damaged and sensitive. Believe it or not i actually wanted to feel these so called zingers but in the end i had about 3 different occasions through the sessions where my my mouth felt like it just had that popping candy inside it. I went through all 4 seesions totally pain free and when my dentist asked me if i would be ok to have a 5th session i did not oblige as it would be free. I also did not use any sensitive toothpaste at all before the procedure as i was not aware some dentist recommend doing this. It is 7:30pm... 9 hours later and still not one tiny bit of pain at all. Ive eaten a chicken sandwhich for lunch and grilled fish with chips and salad for tea and have brushed my teeth once with regular colgate whitening toothpaste...... I just can not believe just about everyone gets the bad pains as i was just expecting it but nothing came. I would have liked whiter teeth but the results were pretty amazing with about 4 or 5 shades lighter but hoping with the take home kit i will start in 31 hours will better the result. I hope not everyone is turned off by the reviews and im glad i went in anyway.

I had this done yesterday, and as soon as the light went on, I felt a burning tingling sensation behind my two top teeth on the gum line. I wrote down what was happening and they checked for bleach on my gum in the front, but this was underneath. I have a burn on the top of my mouth behind my front teeth, they hygeinist was very apologetic, they did everything they could to protect the gums but she didnt checkunderneath. If you feel a burning on the gum, its burning!!!!

the results are good, but i read its because your teeth get dehydrated? the hollywood smiles are not real teeth so you can never get that with whitening. I don't expect long term results having seen others teeth go back to same or worse, it was just to freshen my look for a job.

I wouldn't recommend it, if trays could do the same thing. The burn is not fun.

I recently had Zoom whitening done as a christmas present. The first round was fine and i experienced no pain. During the second and third i experienced quite a bit of pain.

The results weren't as good as i had initially hoped for however sleeping with the home trays in i noticed a shade or two whiter. Also, i did wake up with horrible pain in my teeth.
With the trays in once a month the colour has stayed, although it means waking up in a bit of pain i am happy and a lot more confident when i smile.

not worth it. Marginal improvement but generally has highlighted different shades of my teeth from various fillings crowns etc my teeth feel stripped 6 days . Certainly not enough explanation by my dentist about the risk with my having sensitive teeth even though i did ask him about this. More importantly not enough gel or materiel to limit or erradicate the sensitivity after treatment . the home kit a waste of time ,expensive and not enough to do any thing

I read these reviews the day before I was scheduled to get the Zoom treatment. I was so scared because of what everyone was saying, I questioned wether or not I should even get it done! I am so glad I didnt listen to anyone on this site! I had one zinger during the second 15 minutes which lasted barely a second, definitely easy to deal with. My teeth were already pretty white A1 and when finished they were a B1 and im very happy with my results! I had no burns, no swollen lips....I did have a little sensitivity in my bottom teeth for a few minutes, I put the jell on that I was given with the zoom package and i felt fine. After an hour or 2 I didnt even have the sensitivity I felt right after. I would suggest you go to a dentist that knows what they are doing! The people on here that have had problems seem to have gone to a bad dentist!!!!

Worked very well. My dentist did warn me that some people get zingers and that if I have any pain to let him know. I had minor discomfort, no different than when using some of the stronger toothpastes out on the market.

If you have any history of sensitive teeth choose a different method, if you have no issues you will be ok.

Quickest way to get results. I watch a movie whilst having this done (3d glasses) only way to go..

I had Zoom done 3 days ago, and regret doing it so bad. My biggest complaint is not the swollen lip, extreme sensitivity or burns as others I see here. I had sensitivity for a few hours after treatment, but that was it. My biggest complaint and biggest regret EVER is the white stains I now have on my two top, front teeth. Apparently, I had calcification on my teeth before and it blended into the natural color. After whitening the calcification is very obvious. The bleach just made it brighter. I'm so depressed! I spent almost $700 to ruin the beautiful teeth I had before. I now realize that I never needed Zoom in the first place. I hope that with time my teeth get back to their normal color.

I am a dentist and the first time i saw the presentation of zoom ,way back, was impressive. However, the patient itself, also a dentist, was in pain ,say after 2 applications of the gel. I can see his tears as the procedure went on...Jokes poured ,but still my friend is ,obviuosly in pain. So,it was over. ...yes it was 3x whiter. Then i saw my friend again after 2 months....and to my surprise...it is still very sensitive....and it even hurt his throut..still.So,I based my decision on not giving the Zoom2 treatment .I love my patients and will never subject them to pain,to the best of my abilities.. I myself was telling my co dentist not to do it and settle for the 1-2 weeks take home method which is very much controlled .
I tell my patients to see me after 4-5 days ,and notify them if they must stop bleaching.

I had the Zoom 2 procedure done about 2 weeks ago and I have to say I was very please with the results, I didn't know have badly stain my teeth were. After the procedure they were 9 shades lighter and I was very impress, though it was very pricey, not painful, slight discomfort the way you mouth is position with the mouth piece. Once again I was happy with the results not the price..

I had the zoom II treatment today which was performed by a friend that's a hygienist. It went well, I did 4, 15 minute sessions and my teeth look probably 3 shades whiter. However, since the procedure they have been extremely sensitive and in constant pain.. I hope this goes away.. Had I read all these comments I probably would have stuck to crest white strips.. Good luck to all, seems it's important to make sure the person preforming the procedure knows exactly what they're doing.. I have to add that I only spent $125 which included a free exam and free x-rays.. Make sure you don't pay more than a couple hundred for this.

I just got back from the dentist who did the Zoom treatment. I dont know if it was 1 or 2, but the equipment was brand new (I was the first patient) so assume Zoom 2. Not a terrible experience, slightly uncomfortable but I actually think I nodded off once during the procedure. Results were not as expected. I was looking for WHITE, the dental staff was amazed at the "three shades" of improvement. OK, $350 later and I am at home ordering whitening products online. How do the celebritys get their teeth so white?

I had my teeth Whitened last week by using Zoom 2. My dentist was very careful and followed the procedure with great detail. I did not experience the servere zingers I had slight pain near to the end of the final cycle but it only lasted for 3 hours and then went away. To maintain the level of whiteness of my teeth I'll have to visit my dentist again to take a home maint. set with trays.

I believe that it all depends how your dentist follows the zoom 2 procedure plus how much pain the patient can tolerate.

I am a hygienist. I will be preforming Zoom2 for the first time tomarrow. Everyone's post is making me unsure if I want to subject my patients to this. I quess we will see how it goes. As to a previous post. It is not a good ideal to do anykind of whitening the same day as getting a deep cleaning (SRP).

I just had this procedure done and thankfully had no sensitivity during the treatment. It's been a couple of hours and I have had a few zingers and yes they really do hurt. After reading all the comments though I am so afraid my teeth are going to look worse than they did before. I can't even say my teeth turned more than half a shade lighter. My canine teeth are just as yellow as before. They also burned my lip, and even though I kept telling the technician my lip was burning she did nothing for me during the procedure except apply more vaseline. Each subsequent treatment burnt my lip more and now my lip is swollen and I was sent home with a prescription for antibiotics in case it gets infected. Do not do this treatment whatever the doctor says. He probably won't say much like mine did. The technician didn't even tell me what she was doing while I was having the treatment she would just walk away leaving me to wonder how long I had to sit there or how many times she would do it to me.

i did 3 veryy painful cycles of zoom advance.
my dentist did not inform me about the pain infact he tricked me!
i was really keen on the home bleach trays but he insisted on zoom as it would last longer, brighter and my teeth would be white in an hour.

LIES.

it was painful and even though my teeth were very white(powder white)
it turned yellowish in two days!!
my dentist blamed it on me and kept insisting i must have had tea
(the basic point is i dont drink tea or coffee!and had informed him at the beggining of the procedure)

i feel betrayed.

he keeps calling me every second day 2 ''acess'' the results and did an office bleach thing which did make my teeth whiter n sensitive.
its been close to a month and i have been going to the dentist in the hope that ONE DAY I WILL HAVE WHITE TEETH.

they are such liars!!

Omg I had my zoom whitening treatment today. I couldnt complete the third cycle as I was experiencing too much sensitivity. I told him how bad it was and he said it should last for six hours five hours later its worse than it has been and cannot control the tears due to the pain. Its awful I cant even talk. My teeth are four shades whiter but If I had known how much pain I would be in I would never have had this done, no pain killer is helping. I wouldnt reccomend this to anyone!!

First off my dentist gave me the Zoom Gel to use with the trays and i did that for 2 weeks, he told me to do it an hour each night and I wasnt seeing any results so i left them in overnight and I seen maybe a shade or 2 lighter once i was finished, so i told him i was not satisfied after paying $250 so he used the Zoom light on my teeth for maybe 30-35 minutes and at first they looked white but i think it was the light in the office but over all i would say the light only lightened my teeth another shade i was very dissapointed with this product and would not recommend it. My friend used the opalescence product and her teeth are so white. I'm going to try that one now that i have my own trays.

My dentist here in Houston offers free ZOOM 2 whitening to new patients so I took advantage. The hygentist put all kinds of protective sunscreen creams, numbing creams and loading my face with gauze then had me where a special pair of glasses. I have sensite teeth so I was worried tat I would feel pain.

I felt not even a twinge of pain or discompfort at all. My teeth are only 2 shades lighter but they look beautiful.

I think weather or not you have pain has everything to do with with the hygenist and how well they protect your gums and face.

The girl who prepped me spent 10-15 minutes with all the creams and protective layers of fabric.

I would highly recommend Floss dental clinic Houston. If you live else where ask what procedures they take to protect your lips, gums and eyes.

This is my worse nightmare and I do not recommend this procedure to anyone. I had it done two months ago on 22-01-2009 and the pain is still there. My upper lip was burned and swollen and the problem is that my lip is so big that I can get rid of that extra tissue. My lip is deformed forever and my tongue was burned too. Now, it is very difficult for me to speak as before. So, I went to see my general doctor and then she sent me to see the URL specialist and he sent me to see the esthetical surgeon and everyone is confirming my burn; also, I am following a physiotherapy for my lip (they are putting electrodes) and I need to add the orthophonist. My life is not as before. I feel burn two months after and I had that feeling of burn forever on my tongue. I am going to sue that people for sure!

I had no idea what would be invovled in this. The procedure wasn't explained prior to the application. On the first application after 5 minutes under the light I began to feel a dull ache in my teeth. After a few more minutes it became too intense to tolerte. My dentist stopped the procedure and has recommended I try the trays at home. I am disappointed but hope the home treatment works.

The "zingers" are painful, but I did not start to experience them until after the 4 fifteen minute treatments. The tray they give you to use after seems to help.
I would say it was definately worth it. The zingers only last 1-2 seconds, it can be tolerated for the results.

I had Zoom done on my teeth and I ended up with a totally fried lower lip. I am on day 7 now after the procedure and the inside of my lower lip is still oozing and throbbing. I can't eat or sleep without taking tylenol and advil. My teeth may have whitened some from the procedure but truthfully they look yellow now because I haven't been able to brush them for 7 days. I tried putting some toothpaste on a toothbrush to get to the back teeth but some of the paste worked its way up to the inside of my lower lip and tears starting rolling down my cheeks from the pain. I don't know what percentage of people suffer burns from this procedure but it seems there are enough of us that dentists and the Zoom manufacturing company have long ago been PUT ON NOTICE that this product and procedure are defective! Continuing to market this product and perform the procedure is more than negligence...it is intentional infliction of pain and suffering and to charge for this is malicious! The manufacturer needs to immediately discontinue distributing this product and dentists absolutely must cease the practice of this torture. Kudos to those honorable dentists who have recognized this as inhumane treatment and have voluntarily terminated the use of it. Hopefully, you will not be named in the many lawsuits that will inevitably result from those of us who have been injured!

I just had the zoom treatment done last week. I was told I may have a few "zaps" in my teeth at some point throughout the treatment. I was lucky to only get one, in the very last minute of the session. Let me tell you, it was more than a ZAP. Then when I was told there would be more pain throughout the next 24 hours I was horrified to think I would have to experience those "zaps" for a longer period of time. I couldn't breathe through my mouth because the cold air really hurt my teeth, and I could not drink anything cold for a good 24 hours. The lady did everything properly on me. She put all the gel onto my gums, put stuff onto my lips, etc. and yet my teeth still really hurt. I was advised to take advil- so I did & and it did nothing! SO, I remembered I still had some painkillers left from when I got my wisdom teeth out. I took one, and it helped a little bit more with the pain. The gel that they give you, I believe it's called "relief," does NOT relieve the pain in ANY way shape or form. It actually hurt my teeth MORE. My boyfriend actually made it seem like I was a wimp for complaining about how much it hurt. I was under the impression that my teeth would be sensitive if I was to drink or eat something hot or cold. However, they fail to tell you that even BREATHING will hurt your teeth. After the initial 24 hours, my teeth looked amazing, EXTREMELY white plus there was no more sensitivity at all! However I just noticed yesterday that my teeth have become white around the edges, and a more yellow shade on the inside which is odd considering I had followed all of their recommendations of "what not to do after the zoom treatment." I found this very odd, and it is very noticeable. Overall, the pain and the quality of this zoom treatment is NOT worth the money, or the time.

Zoom costs from 800USD to 1500USD in Singapore. And after the treatment i felt that i should have been paid to get it done and not the other way around!!

Yes my teeth are now white, but i would not have done it considering the pain and agony i had gone thru. i would have done research if only i knew i was going for ZooM! My dentist did not even say the name of the programme and i basically went in to get a bleaching and boy did it hurt! Markerting people say its painless with no sensitivity. LIES!!!

I had 3 cycles done and completed the entire thing although during the last cycle i did feel tingling in my lower front teeth. Other than that I felt fine and left the office happy with only minor tingling and a mouth and back cramp for sitting for two long.

Only when i got home did i experience the bad zingers and all hell broke loose! THIS IS NOT A HUMANE TREATMENT. I felt like i was being a prisoner of war and repeated tortured in some concentration camp with my teeth taking turns to have their nerves ZINGED and electrocuted and it would pass thru my pain and freeze it, together with my jaw and all my senses with the PAIN. THIS IS SICK. And i actually have a very good pain tolerance.

It got worse in the night as i was abt to sleep and took painkillers and i called another dentist friend for advice (he initially warmed me against it and now i came back crying to him). He said it would get worse the next day and should sleep with painkillers and brace myself.

I survived the next day with white teeth and no more zingers. But for the pain and the price, a DEFINITE NO! and i will swear off whitening altogether.

Will someone look into this? It is human rights abuse and it hurts! Why are there no warnings abt downright mind jabbling sensitivity and pain????!!! NO WONDER DENTISTS don't do it to themselves!

The chemicals are VERY VERY strong and the assistant got burned by the peroxide. Half of my tongue is singed with chemical burns. A tip: if you HAVE to do it, skip the back couple teeth. The peroxide will mix with the saliva behind and burn u bad! BURNING is one thing, ZINGERS are another.

They should do this to terrorists to get them to tell their secrets. 5 cycles and a couple hours later all will be out. My max was 3 cycles and i was going to tell whatever had to be told already..

And the gel does not offer any relief. At one point i wished i was DEAD. I could not tell my parents abt this as before the whitening i was waxing lyrical abt it only to have my mouth in pain and too embarrassed to open it anyway.

If u have a couple days to lose, or have forgot what real pain feels like, this is for u!!!!!

Normal folk should just pass this one up.

**WONDERFULLY WHITE NEW SMILE!!! I LOVE IT!**
My dentist was offering free Zoom Whitening for all new patients so I didn't pay a single penny (normally they charge $299)! I am extremely satisfied with my results. What's my secret you ask? I used fluroide gel on my teeth each time I brushed a week prior to having my teeth whitened to help with sensitivity. Plus I took 4 advil right before the procedure began. THIS IS A MUST to prevent the "zingers" that everyone talks about. Making sure your dentist takes there time to "prepare" your teeth before turning the light on is also important. She put think sunscreen on my lips and isolated my teeth/tongue with gauze before apply the liquid around my gums. They use a light that makes that liquid on your gums turn into a rubber seal around your teeth.

I did 3 treatments of 20 minutes each with her reapplying the whitening solution to my teeth in between treatments. There are 4 green lights on top of the Zoom light that each represent 5 minutes. You can watch those light up to know how much longer you have. It is important to remain very still during the sessions but you can rest in between. I even got to watch a movie on a flat screen tv during the process which really helps keep your mind off of the contraption on your face.

This was so totally worth it!!! My teeth look fabulous and they have become even whiter since yesterday. The hard part is going without coffee or red wine for 48 hours (they say not to use colored toothpaste either-- only white. I am using the sensodyne they gave me in my goodie bag). I am going back in a few days for a followup calcuim treatment to get rid of the small white spots on my teeth.

DO IT!!!! You have nothing to lose :)
